WEDNESDAY COMMENTARY – RANDOM THOUGHTS

If you remember, Wednesdays are for random thoughts on this commentary and today we have a few. Here we go …
#1 – My purview is likely a little different than yours, but it’s been filled with discussion over Baltimore Orioles broadcaster Kevin Brown being suspended by the team this week for simply pointing out the team’s woeful record at Tampa Bay between 2020 and 2022.
Frankly I tried to ignore the story because nothing surprises me anymore in today’s sports world but this story wouldn’t go away. Apparently fellow broadcasters came to Brown’s defense and even MLB got involved, getting the suspension shortened.
I’m sure the poor kid is wondering what he’s allowed to say at all, if he can’t say the truth?
I could write a book on that, and probably will, but you don’t want my opinion on taking heat for speaking the truth.
#2 – In a somewhat related – and just as warped – story, players with the NFL’s Washington Commanders have gone to head coach Ron Rivera to complain about the intensity of new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.
Apparently those players feel the new assistant coach is too hard on them.
Oh boy.
For one, I’m surprised Riverboat Ron felt the need to tell the media about this at all, because it’s the type of thing that should be kept in-house. For two, Rivera seems to have snickered at the players’ concerns and to Bieniemy’s credit, he’s not apologizing nor backing down.
As he told the media, it’s his butt that’s on the line so he’s not letting the players off the hook.
Training camp is only two weeks old and there’s already a rift in Washington’s locker room. Scratch them off the list of playoff contenders.
And #3 – I’m watching that Washington situation very closely, but for other reasons. My NFL sources tell me the team WILL be changing its name back to “Redskins” at some point, and I’m giddy to watch the fallout.
Being an observer of these matters is so much fun! Why did I wait so long?

Eric Bieniemy is for sure one to watch. He was the stylish virtue signal hire that just had to happen. These guys always end up in Washington. The last time I seen it was 20 years ago when Marvin Lewis just had to be hired for a Head Coaching job. Blah blah blah not enough minority hires blah blah blah. I’ll say it again. The Orioles situation is a farce! Poor guy just stating the facts and get suspended! Yikes. Gee, reminds me of the past few years. Say anything against the left’s narrative and you are the enemy. Also, go Redskins! Bring back the Cleveland Indians as well. Guardians, give me a break.
I’d be happy with the Cleveland Indian name making a making comeback as long as they have turbans on their team merchandise & apparel while wearing towels for headwear instead of a baseball cap during games.
have to comment here on the Riders again, this time my comment is on the OLine. Bottom line, undersized and panty weight material. hey are not mean, not big and not forceful at all. All of them. They get manhandled in the short 3rd down attempts and have no push at all!! 0 push!!! The Ocoordinator is dead set at trying to push up the middle for those short yardage attempts and they get stopped dead.
