TUESDAY RUNDOWN: BEDARD TALK, NFL AND MORE!

REMPLE

Tuesday’s Episode #318 of The RP Show featured an array of very candid chats. Read on!

  • Rod and Dupes opened with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Vegas gets ousted from the Stanley Cup Playoffs in Game 6 against Dallas, 2) The “Puck Out Of Play” penalty in OT which decided the game (the rule was introduced in 2005), 3) Stephen Gostkowski misses four kicks in Tennessee’s 16-14 win over Denver on Monday Night Football, 4) Chase Claypool shines in his Steelers debut, 5) It’s another pickle for the CFL; Canada’s best players are going to the NCAA and NFL after the CFL has poured millions into grassroots football in Canada, and 6) The Blue Jays open a key 3-game series at the New York Yankees.
  • Not covered in the Quick Six but still a very important topic is Regina Pats phenom Connor Bedard going to play in Sweden at age 15. RP said he’s seen criticism of the Bedard family for the decision but asserted “not everyone’s afraid”. The host predicted several more major junior players will be heading to Europe while the CHL is stuck without a season.
  • RP Show Junior Hockey insider and former WWF promoter Kelly “The Silver Fox” Remple joined the bunker and gave a fantastic breakdown of minor sports Return To Play amid the pandemic and government controls. Remps figures Saskatchewan’s done a wonderful job of keeping Covid numbers low, but there’s been no reward for the sports and business people in terms of getting back to normal. It created a heated back-and-forth debate with viewers on where we’re going.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in Week 15 of the CFL SIM season: Edmonton at Montreal, Calgary at Saskatchewan, Ottawa at Toronto or Hamilton at Winnipeg? At press time, Stamps/Riders are way out in front. The poll winner will be broadcast on Facebook Live Friday at 7:00 pm MT on the RP Show Facebook Live channel.
  • Hour 2 was broadcast on Facebook Live only and we were joined by Sirius/XM NFL Radio’s Zig Fracassi from New York. There’s been criticism of Week 1 NFL TV broadcasts but Zig admitted he didn’t see a difference. Even if the criticism is warranted, he feels it was only Week 1 and there were no preseason games to work the kinks out. Regarding the Cowboys’ coaching blunder at the L.A. Rams Sunday night, Fracassi advised fellow Cowboys fans to “chill out”. He also covered Tom Brady’s debut with the Buccaneers and what a shame it is Vegas NFL fans can’t watch the Raiders in their brand new stadium.
  • Dupes rejoined the bunker for the final few segments and the boys delved into their favourite Netflix series and examined the documentary The Social Dilemma about social media’s impact on society. RP figures social media isn’t the problem, people are. He related it to fire; if you learn how to use it, you can heat your home and cook your food. However if you don’t use it wisely, it can burn your house down or kill you. The feels the show is a vast over-dramatization of the social media revolution and the problems it’s created.
