We covered your favourite topics on Episode #456 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show – on Tuesday! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont opened with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) We observe the 3-year anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos bus accident, 2) Monday NHL leftovers (the Oilers/Canadiens result was the WORST possible outcome for the Flames), 3) Moose wins the March Madness Enterprize Sports bracket with Baylor’s win over Gonzaga!, 4) Connor Bedard’s point streak ends at 12 games in the Pats’ 4-3 SO loss to the Warriors, 5) The Blue Jays are 3-1 for the first time since 2015!, and 6) Close to 40,000 fans showed up in Texas to watch the Blue Jays beat the Rangers 6-2. Viewers wanted Rod’s take on the crowd and his response was “good for them”. He feels what Texas does is none of his business. Meanwhile RP Show staff continue to follow Covid restrictions in our jurisdiction.
  • Viewers were eager for Rod’s latest take on CFL/XFL talks which he teased at the end of Monday’s show. He said that a football insider informed him MLSE is behind the idea which is no different than what TSN’s David Naylor been reporting for a week. The panel debated what this means for the short-term and long-term of the CFL.
  • Former Blue Jays first base coach and current San Francisco Giants Coordinator of Outfield & Base Running Tim Leipper joined the show from minor league spring training in Surprise, AZ. Leipper talked about the hot start of the Blue Jays and the biggest story being reliever Julian Merryweather who was acquired in the Josh Donaldson deal. Although it’s incredibly early, Tim’s encouraged by the team play and big bats of the Jays. He also talked about joining the storied San Francisco Giants organization and the outlook for minor league baseball.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Would you attend a sporting event right now? At press time over 60% of respondents said yes.
  • In Hour 2’s Second Half Kickoff we continued to debate with viewers the plight of the Calgary Flames, crowds at Canadian sporting events, the CFL potentially dropping one Global player from the roster and what life’s like inside the WHL East Hub.
  • Lethbridge Hurricanes broadcaster Dustin Forbes joined the show to examine the WHL Central Division’s Return To Play. He said it’s gone as expected with Edmonton way out front and Red Deer struggling. He explained how their RTP is different from the East and BC Division hubs in that teams are travelling to each other’s venues, however Dustin drives to games and is not part of the ‘Canes cohort. Forbes also explained his 93-lb weight loss journey and why he did it.
  • The final two segments were devoted to Viewer Takeover and fans from around the continent chimed in with their thoughts on the future of sports in Canada.
  • RP and Moose Faced Off for The Mad Greek and UFZ Moose Jaw on the future of Buffalo Sabres forward Taylor Hall. Darren said he WOULD welcome Hall if he was the GM of a contending team while Rod disagreed, saying character issues with the much-travelled forward would prevent him from making such a move.
