TUESDAY RUNDOWN: CFL, NHL, MLB TALK AND MUCH MORE!
It was another rollicking good time on Episode #526 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow – on Tuesday! Read on for the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont opened with The Warmup for EECOL Electric covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Duncan Keith is an Oiler. The guys feel it’s a good move, but too expensive, 2) The MLB Homerun Derby was a bit of a dud!, 3) Stephen A. Smith apologizes for criticizing Angels star Shohei Otani for not speaking English, 4) Rider QB Paxton Lynch ruffles feathers for saying he wants to get back to the NFL (what NFL’er-turned-CFL’er doesn’t say that?), 5) Andrew Harris isn’t participating in Tuesday’s Blue Bomber training camp workout, and 6) Game 4 of the NBA Final goes Wednesday. They must’ve scheduled around the MLB All Star Game!
- TSN 1260 Edmonton’s Jason Gregor joined the show to discuss the Duncan Keith news and all the latest in the NHL. He feels the Oilers overpaid for Keith but feels he’ll bring much-needed stability to their blueline. Jason quipped that “leadership and heart are overrated” to which Rod disagreed. They also discussed the heat getting hot on Oilers GM Ken Holland. Gregor also doesn’t feel the Minnesota Wild buyouts of Zach Parise and Ryan Suter cue a rebuild. He thinks they’re making room to pay NHL Rookie of the Year Kirrill Kaprizov. Regarding the Seattle Kraken expansion draft, Jason doesn’t think they’ll get much off of the Oilers. And with CFL training camps underway, Jason said he’ll pay more attention as we get closer to the regular season but predicts a lot of injuries.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which QB would you pick if you had to win ONE game – Zach Collaros, Bo Levi Mitchell, Michael Reilly or Other? At press time, BLM was leading.
- In Hour 2 we were joined by Winnipeg broadcaster Darrin Bauming from NHL.com and Bonfire Sports. Fresh off Bomber head coach Mike O’Shea’s Tuesday news conference, Darrin said O’Shea isn’t saying anything about a potential injury to Harris however he feels it may be a case of “load management” and the reigning Grey Cup M.O.P. and M.O.C. has clearly made the team. He also detailed the differences in the Winnipeg offense under new coordinator Buck Pierce from Paul Lapolice, and predicted a good season for the Blue.
- The final two segments were devoted to Viewer Takeover and we debated the CFL/XFL news, NHL happenings, CEBL games and much more!
- Rod and Darren Faced Off on the Tampa Bay Lightning damaging the Stanley Cup in their boat parade celebration. Dupes feels the winning team should be entitled to party with the “real” Cup while Rod said a replica would suffice. He said, “It’s summer and it’s hockey players and beer. Stuff’s going to happen!” The Face Off is presented by UFZ Moose Jaw and The Mad Greek Restaurant.

dam those people of riderville always getting their poor little butt feelings hurt when an American (Paxton Lynch) comes to town to play for the riders and talks the talk and says what he’s truly thinking. Leave the guy alone, he’s here, he’ll be very good for the CFL and Sask, end of subject. Players come and go all the time.
