We began the next 500 on Tuesday with Episode #501 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow – and welcomed more big name guests! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP & Moose Dupont kicked it off with the Warmup for EECOL Electric covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Montreal Canadiens have moved onto Round 3 (and their fans need to tone it down), 2) The Islanders are up 3-2 on Boston and Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy’s been dinged $25,000 for criticizing officiating, 3) The SJHL announces they’ve received government approval to begin their 2021-21 season on Sept. 24, 4) Rod cautions this won’t translate to the CFL specifically because of crowd size, 5) NHL games Tuesday night – Tampa at Carolina and Vegas at Colorado, and 6) The Blue Jays open a midweek series at the Chicago White Sox.
  • TSN reported Tuesday morning that the CFL Board of Governors will vote June 14 on kicking off the season August 5 (if we read that right). That opened a Pandora’s Box with viewers and Rod said this is why he’s cautioned fans all along that there could be a further delay or perhaps even no season at all.
  • Hockey Hall of Famer & Regina Pats great Clark Gillies joined the show to discuss rallying the crowd at Game 4 between the Islanders and Bruins on Long Island. The Moose Jaw, SK product went through the entire Islanders lineup and what he loves about them. He truly believes they have what it takes to win the Stanley Cup and agreed with RP that it would be a great way to end their final season at Nassau Country Veterans Coliseum. Gillies went on to tell some tales from the Islanders glory days and reported that life is good! He admitted he may crush another beer can on his head on the big screen in Game 6.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Will you cheer for the Montreal Canadiens the rest of the way? At press time 56% of respondents said no.
  • In the Hour 2 Second Half Kickoff for Four Season Sports Palace we debated back and forth with viewers about how annoying some fanbases can be, particularly Habs fans whom are getting quite noisy! Viewers from all over the continent chimed in with their takes.
  • Sportsnet anchor Ken Reid joined the show to discuss the Stanley Cup Playoffs and said while he grew up in Pictou, NS as a Canadiens-lover, he now cheers for all teams. However he’s in awe of Carey Price and hopes he caps his career with a Cup win. Ken then let loose on managerial decisions by the Blue Jays and said expectations are NOT too high. He feels this team is good enough to contend and boneheaded losses are not acceptable.

All the planetary stars would have to align for the CFL to play 2021. Too many roadblocks in play, political decisions, board decisions, players association decisions, Canadian health decisions etc etc etc …. question …. shouldn’t the CFL have had definitive plans in place by now to proceed 2021?
