Ladies and Gentlemen, Tuesday was the 487th episode of the Rod Pedersen Show and here is the rundown for Darren’s second day of hosting:

  • Today we got the Silver Fox himself, Kelly Remple, who joined us in studio, and he was updated on Moose’s nickname. During a junior hockey game, a young Darren Dupont layed a nasty hit on a player, who later turned out to be a girl. The nickname sort of stuck afterwards. Rod now has brought the nickname of the Moose back. Remple discussed what he did recently, and it was watching his kids play sports and praised the head people of the Regina Minor Football league Len Antonin and Kelly Hamilton.
  • The Warm-up revolved around Hamilton Tigercats Owner Bob Young’s comment on Twitter about how he claims that the Tigercats will play this year, but he couldn’t speak for the other teams. Bob Young was quoting from a 3Down article. Both Moose and Remple talked about Young’s tweet, and Remple went on a Rod style of rant which is brought to you by Bronco Plumbing and Heating. The Warmup concluded with both of them talking about Saskatchewan’s rollback plan with the COVID vaccinations.
  • Blake Nill, UBC head coach, joined us for hour one, and they mostly talked about U sports. Coach Nill is preparing for a season and making sure that they are abiding by the health guidelines. The recruiting process was different for Coach Nill; however, due to Zoom, he could find athletes and get to know them better. With the emerging talk with the XFL, Nill put more focus on hoping that CFL stays and that  CFL Canadian history is important.
  • The last segment was Viewer Takeover, where Dupont and Remple answered fans’ questions. Also discussed was the daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question which was: Who was gonna win the Scotia North Division? The choices were Leafs, Edmonton, Montreal and Winnipeg.
  • Hour two of the show started with Darren recapping the Black Tie Hockey draft that took place in Swift Current and some hilarious stories involving NHL great Tiger Williams who was attending the event.
  • After that recap, the Head coach of the Saskatoon Blades and assistant for Team Canada World Juniors, Mitch Love, appeared in hour two. Love also talked about how in Canada, there is a lot of stuff that is out of people’s control with Canada in the hockey industry. Remple came in next to chat with Love, and both discussed how well hockey was with the WHL bubble that happened here in Regina. They next discussed the living conditions there. Love talked about how it was a bit of a challenge and praised all health officials for making it happen. Darren came in and was wondering about the 2022 World Juniors. Mitch did not have much information on the event and talked about seeing what is happening next month as the World Hockey Championship is happening alongside the NHL playoffs. The last thing discussed with Love is him being excited for the young crop of talent that is coming for the Western Hockey League. After that, Remple had to leave, which left Darren with himself and the fans.
  • After the break, Carolina Hurricanes Public Address Announcer Wade Minter joined us to recap the Hurricanes game and the electric atmosphere. It was a better experience for Minter with fans in the stadium than before; when it was empty, he had to change his style of announcing to fit the TV style of the audience. With all of the 12000 fans screaming their hearts out, Minter explained “that it felt like real playoff hockey, and he didn’t feel like it since 2019”, which was the last time the Hurricanes made the playoffs. Minter enjoyed the game and talked about the resurgence of Jordan Staal as an excellent story for them this year. After that, Minter talked about how captive Raleigh, North Carolina, is with hockey. Minter concluded with the interview about the gradual lifting of the COVID restrictions by the league and how there is a hunger for arenas to be full as soon as possible.
  • After that segment, it was Overtime, and Producer Clark joined Dupont for the closing segment, answered viewer’s questions and talked about upcoming NHL playoff games. Producer Clark also made a plug for the SquadCast, and the people appearing on his show are Rachel Doerrie, who used to work for the New Jersey Devils and former WHL Goalie Daniel Wapple. The last part of the show was about who was on tomorrow, and they are Amanda Ruller, Washington Capitals Analyst Alan May, TSN1260 Dustin Nielson for the Oilers and Jets playoff matchup and the Rams Quarterback Josh Donnelly.
