TUESDAY RUNDOWN: EGUAVOEN & PRINCIPE JOIN!

It was a party on Episode #421 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow! Read on for the details:

  • RP and Dupes opened with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Monday NHL leftovers (goals galore, a Leafs meltdown & more!), 2) Brandon Banks threatens retirement if the CFL doesn’t play in 2021, 3) Draymond Green goes off on lack of respect for NBA players, 4) The WHL’s Return To Play plans (teams are being informed this week on more details), 5) Alex Galchenyuk is a Leaf, and 6) A recap of Week 1 in the Fan Controlled Football League.
  • Sportsnet Oilers host Gene Principe joined the show for an entertaining chat. The guys debated Saskatchewan ever becoming home to an NHL team, last night’s goal explosion in the NHL, the plight of the Oilers, and Gene not wanting to upstage the GOAT of puns – Hockey Night In Canada’s Ron MacLean.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who’s the MVP of the Flames so far – Johnny Gaudreau, Jacob Markstrom, Mark Giordano or Other? At press time, Markstrom was winning by a mile.
  • In Hour 2, plans for re-upping the Quick Six were derailed by viewers who were eager to discuss all of the day’s topics including the CFL’s Return To Play, NHL leftovers, and the AHL returning underage players to the WHL. Rod also scoffed at Darren’s love of tennis.
  • Miami Dolphins linebacker Sam Eguavoen – a former Roughrider from 2016-2018 – joined the show from the USA. He talked about his long road to the NFL and how emotions overtook him in his Dolphins preseason debut. The Texas Tech product went into great detail on the MCL injury suffered at Calgary’s McMahon Stadium in 2016 and how it presented a crossroads in his career. He came back more determined than ever in 2017 and earned a host of NFL tryouts. The Garland, TX product recapped the Dolphins 2020 season, how they almost made the playoffs, and was coy about Tua Tagovailoa supplanting Ryan Fitzpatrick as Miami’s starting quarterback. “We were rolling!” Sam laughed. Ottawa RedBlacks LB Micah Awe was watching the show and chimed in. Eguavoen revealed the pair were teammates at Texas Tech and said Micah is his favourite guy to talk ball with.
  • The final two segments were devoted to Viewer Takeover and we took questions from viewers all across the continent.
