TUESDAY RUNDOWN: GET KRAKEN, CFL NEWS & MORE!

We addressed all the latest sports topics on Episode #531 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow – on Tuesday! Read on for the rundown:

RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup for EECOL Electric covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The NBA Finals could end tonight with Milwaukee up 3-2 on Phoenix!, 2) CFL Notes – Smoke cancels Bomber outdoor practice, Winnipeg signs kicker Tyler Crapigna and Derek Dennis wants out of his deal with the Elks, 3) NFL Notes – Rams RB Cam Akers tears his Achilles tendon and more on the Aaron Rodgers saga, 4) NHL Expansion Draft discussion, 5) The Blue Jays get rolled 13-4 at Boston, and 6) Peyton Manning will be joining the Monday Night Football broadcast.
CHCH-TV Hamilton’s Clint “Bubba” O’Neil joined the show and discussed a lot of things including his recovery from catching Covid. He said it was the worst six weeks of his life but now he feels better than he has in 10 years! Bubba reported that the Ticats will dominate Hamilton sports discussion for the next six months and figures Jeremiah Masoli will be the Ticats #1 QB in Week 1 at Winnipeg. O’Neil feels clearly it’s Grey Cup Or Bust for the Ticats after finishing 15-3 last season and losing in the Grey Cup. He also identified Brandon Banks as the player people are watching the most in Ticats camp.
The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Should exhibition games be eliminated in sports? At press time over 70% of respondents said no.
In the Hour 2 Second Half Kickoff for the Four Seasons Sports Palace we discussed the CFLPA shutting down Bomber practice due to smoky conditions, and more on Wednesday’s Seattle NHL Expansion Draft. We announced an Expansion Draft Viewing Party at the Four Seasons Sports Palace Wednesday at 6:00 pm MT and more details are forthcoming.
RP Show NHL Insider Rich Sutter joined the show to breakdown all the latest in the NHL. Like Rod, he doesn’t feel the Kraken will select Carey Price but admitted it could go either way. Rich went through all the big names whom are available and feels Seattle will indeed take some of them (he chuckled that Seattle should have a jersey made up for Mark Giordano already!) Rich also previewed this weekend’s NHL Entry Draft and the bloodlines with NHL alum including Mike/Cole Sillinger, Shane/Josh Doan and more. Sutter also said when free agency opens next week, it’s going to get wild!
Victoria Royals defenceman and NHL Draft Prospect Gannon Laroque joined the show from his Edmonton home and said he’s nervous entering Draft weekend. He discussed his road through hockey, playing minor hockey in Edmonton and being undrafted by the Royals. Laroque said he gets asked everyday which NHL team he’d like to be drafted by but admitted he’d be happy just to hear his name called. It was a great interview and Gannon is very well-spoken!
