TUESDAY RUNDOWN: HOCKEY & NFL DRAFT TALK

We had a lot of laughs and great sports talk on Episode #472 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show – on Tuesday! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Monday NHL leftovers (Rod did a deep dive on the Jets’ 6-1 loss to the Oilers), 2) The QMJHL playoffs are underway and the Pats & ICE wrap up their seasons today in the Dub Hub, 3) Canadian football organizations send a letter to the CFL regarding proposed rule changes in a merger, 4) Tennessee WR Josh Palmer tops the final CFL Scouting Bureau rankings ahead of next week’s Draft, 5) How are the Blue Jays winning despite all these injuries?, and 6) The UofS Huskies Mens Hockey Team names Brandin Cote as the top assistant to Mike Babcock.
  • With the NFL Draft opening Thursday with Round 1, Arizona Cardinals senior writer Darren Urban joined the show from Phoenix to outline Cardinals draft needs, the expectations of QB Kyler Murray and HC Kliff Kingsbury in 2021, the buzz in the Valley approaching the Draft, some Coyotes talk and more! Darren has agreed to be the RP Show’s Cardinals correspondent.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: What has your attention in sports this week – NFL Draft, NHL/CHL, MLB or other? At press time, NHL/CHL was leading on Twitter while MLB was leading on Facebook.
  • In the Hour 2 Second Half Kickoff we had lively debate with viewers on which Canadian NHL fanbase is the most suffering? (The panel agreed on Vancouver, while Winnipeg remains upbeat no matter what).
  • The Voice of the Winnipeg ICE Mitch Peacock joined the show to preview tonight’s Pats/ICE game, the legacy of ICE star Peyton Krebs, and the up-and-down nature of Jets fans. They also debated the NHL’s playoff structure since Gary Bettman stated Tuesday morning nothing’s been finalized yet for Round 3.
  • In the Viewer Takeover we discussed the NHL’s new deal with Turner Sports/TNT and detailed the long list of Blue Jays injuries.
