TUESDAY RUNDOWN: THE LATEST

Daytime is a great time to talk sports and we covered Tuesday’s latest news on Episode #561 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup for EECOL Electric covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) It’s NFL final cutdown day and Cam Newton heads the list out of New England, 2) On the heels of ESPN’s Top 100 NFL player list, we asked who’s the CFL’s #1 player? (Rod said Cody Fajardo), 3) More on the Hurricanes/Kotkaniemi offer sheet, 4) It’s Canada vs USA for World Womens gold on Tuesday night, 5) The NFL & NFLPA agree on weekly Covid testing for vaccinated players and 6) CFL attendance. If you’re not going to games, WHY?
  • RP Show NHL Insider and Columbus Blue Jackets pro scout Rich Sutter joined the show from Lethbridge to talk all things NHL. August was a month off for many NHL types but Rich was busy evaluating players and getting ready for camp! He discussed the Blue Jackets draft and feels #12 pick Cole Sillinger has a chance of making the club at age 18. Regarding the Kotkaniemi offer sheet, Rich feels it’s an interesting situation and is surprised it doesn’t happen more. He predicts Jesperi will end up with Carolina at $6.1M this season.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: If you’re not attending CFL games, why not – Covid, Cost, Lost Interest or Other? At press time, “Other” was leading.
  • In the Hour 2 Second Half Kickoff for CORR Grain we were joined by Regina Pats GM and AHL Hall of Famer John Paddock. John previewed Pats training camp in September and feels the WHL will likely go to a Proof of Vaccination policy for fans. The crew spent a good deal of time on 16-year old star Connor Bedard and Paddock said he still has to pinch himself that Bedard plays for Regina. Viewers were eager for John to tell some Winnipeg Jets and Philadelphia Flyers stories and he happily obliged.
  • Moose rejoined the show for the final 40 minutes and we discussed possible landing spots for Cam Newton (it won’t be the CFL), the US Open tennis tournament, more hockey talk and plenty more! We covered WR Naaman Roosevelt signing with Winnipeg and OL Jacob Ruby being cut by the Edmonton Elks over Covid issues.
