Tuesday was Episode #22 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Dupes was back from Kelowna and his “Investor Relations” trip. He claimed it was successful. He joined Rod and former Rider Marshall Hamilton in the bunker as they looked back at the Riders’ 32-7 Canada Day victory over Toronto at Mosaic Stadium.
  • The panel agreed that a star has been born in QB Cody Fajardo. Marshall said it’s rare that you’d have a game where nobody played bad but that was the case on Monday. There was very little talk of this Saturday’s home game against Calgary. The rest of the week is for that.
  • Viewers weighed in on the New Gainer, and the revamped Rider mascot got a general thumbs-down on the Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Daily Poll with 81% saying they weren’t in favour of the new look. The Riders’ decision to update their mascot’s look has drawn fan outrage, and national headlines.
  • CTV’s Lee Jones was an exuberant guest via video chat. He’s on a month-long paternal leave with his newborn son Remy, and discussed the 1-2 Riders and how he’d have helped fill the 2-hour storm delay in his days on the CFL on TSN sidelines.
  • Former Rider Mike Abou-Mechrek was in studio talking about the improved play along the Riders’ offensive line with the addition of Terran Vaughn at RT in place of Thad Coleman. He threw more bouquets at the feet of Cody Fajardo.
  • Abou also reflected on the infamous “Blackout” in 2007, when the Riders and Eskimos were delayed an hour by a power outage at Taylor Field. Many, including Abou, felt that game turned around the Riders’ season, where they went on to be Grey Cup champions.
  • Coming up on Wednesday’s show: CFL greats Ricky Foley from Toronto and Travis Lulay from BC. Derek Meyers will join Rod and Dupes in studio.
  • Watch from 10:00am-12:00pm MT on Facebook Live or listen live at www.rodpedersen.com/listenlive! The podcast is also available on iTunes, IHeartRadio and Spotify.
