Tuesday was Episode #99 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes opened with The Warmup discussing the day’s sports topics including the Riders’ 2-year contract extension for Cody Fajardo. The boys also gave their thoughts on the re-election of Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister.
  • Riders/Stamps/Ticats alum Marshall Hamilton joined the bunker in Segment 2 and the guys went deeper on the Fajardo deal. They asked if the $450,000 per season is too much, and if Fajardo’s proven enough yet to warrant such a hefty salary? Rod said the contract is proof of how much the Riders think of Fajardo.
  • 16-year Major Leaguer and World Series champion Gregg Zaun joined the show via video chat from Toronto to preview the 2019 World Series which begins Tuesday night with Washington at Houston. Zaun predicted a low-scoring Game 1 with the pitching match-up of Cole vs Scherzer. Gregg predicts a 5-game Houston series victory. Being a staunch Rider fan, Zaun gave his thoughts on the 11-5 Riders and even put on his Rider helmet to show support for Canada’s Team.
  • News broke during the show that Chris Streveler was absent at Bombers practice and Zach Collaros was taking 1st team reps at QB. The guys offered their analysis of the Bombers heading into Friday’s home game versus Calgary, and what the outlook is for Winnipeg’s club.
  • RP Show Director of Scouting Craig Smith joined the bunker to give his thoughts on all these topics and feels the contract extension for Fajardo makes the Riders “Grey Cup contenders for the next three years”. The guys also offered their take on the season-ending home-and-home series between the Riders and Eskimos, and what we should expect from an Edmonton club who’s tuning up for the Eastern Semifinal at Montreal.
  • NFL Insider Jim Lang joined the show from Toronto to offer his take on Week 7. He said the Patriots will be nearly impossible to beat the rest of the way and are the odds-on favourites to take the AFC again. Jim also gave his thoughts on the surprising Arizona Cardinals who’ve won 3 straight under Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray, and the Patriots’ Monday Night Football romp over the New York Jets.
  • The Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre daily poll question was: Who is the MOP of the West Division: Cody Fajardo, Bo Levi Mitchell, Andrew Harris or Bryan Burnham? Fajardo won by a landslide.
  • In honour of show #99, the guys recognized sports figures who’ve won number-99 and Rod felt – and the panel agreed – that the discussion begins and ends with Wayne Gretzky.
