Tuesday’s show was Episode #37 of The Rod Pedersen Show. Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Darren Dupont opened the Warmup discussing a wide-range of topics. Rod ranted on the latest controversy surrounding Gainer The Gopher, and defended the beloved mascot. He also discussed the latest video by YouTube sensation and back-up Argos kicker “Deestroying” where he complains about lack of playing time and the wage on a CFL practice roster. Rod concluded, “Welcome to pro football. Welcome to life”.
  • Stampeders and Roughriders alum Marshall Hamilton joined the bunker for his usual Tuesday appearance and the crew discussed the Calgary arena agreement, and how it’s a shame more isn’t being done about a new home for the Calgary Stampeders.
  • Regarding Deestroying, Marshall advised “Stop worrying about YouTube and start worrying about putting the ball through the uprights!”
  • They also discussed the CFL’s Week 6 games, and if Rider QB Cody Fajardo is “The Next One” for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
  • TSN CFL Insider Dave Naylor joined the program via video chat from his home in Toronto and they discussed the plight of the 0-5 Toronto Argonauts. The trio kicked around “Who’s to blame” for the Argos woes: the players, head coach Corey Chamblin or GM Jim Popp. Rod believes the onus is on the players, who won a Grey Cup just two years ago.
  • The panel teed up Saturday’s must-win game for the B.C. Lions, when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
  • In the final 30 minutes, Rod and Marshall were joined by fellow Stamps/Riders alum Wes Cates and they revisited the Calgary arena situation. The crew also discussed the play of Montreal QB Vernon Adams, and how he’s become an “overnight sensation”. RP Show Director of Scouting Craig Smith weighed in from home on the Facebook comment feed, gushing “I’m loving the football talk!” Rod mentioned how he’s hoping to create a CFL version of NFL Network shows, and how viewers/listeners are responding very favourably.
  • In honour of show #37, the crew kicked around their favourite all-time players who’ve worn #37 in their careers. Rod mentioned Josh Harding, Marshall offered former Rider running back Silas McKinney, and Producer Clark chimed in with former Maple Leafs goalie Trevor Kidd.
