TUESDAY SHOW RECAP: EDDIE STEELE’S ANALYSIS
Tuesday’s show was Episode 118 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:
- Rod and Dupes opened the show with The Rollout for Flooring Superstores and they covered all of the day’s hot sports topics. They discussed the Blue Bombers and Ticats arrivals in Calgary for Grey Cup Week, Mike Babcock stating he always bets on himself, Don Cherry’s new podcast and more. They also opened the polls for the East and West Division GM of the Year, saying the winner would be declared on Wednesday. Saskatchewan’s Jeremy O’Day and the Hamilton tandem of Drew Allemang and Shawn Burke were leading at press time.
- Riders/Stamps/Ticats alum Marshall Hamilton joined the bunker in Segment 2, discussing the Riders’ 20-13 loss to Winnipeg in the West Final. Marshall said there’s plenty of blame to go around, from coaching decisions, turnovers and questionable special teams play.
- TSN Winnipeg’s Darrin Bauming joined the show via video chat to discuss how bonkers Winnipeg is going in advance of the 107th Grey Cup. He said the Bombers have plenty of gas left in the tank, and they’re riding considerable momentum going into the game against Hamilton. He also addressed the rumours circulating around the future of Bombers coach Mike O’Shea and said none of it will be addressed until after the Grey Cup.
- Calgary Stampeders media personality Ryan Ballantine joined the bunker to discuss the Stamps’ home loss to Winnipeg in the Western Semifinal. Regarding the poor outing by Bo Levi Mitchell, Ballantine shrugged, “Even Doug Flutie had bad days”. He also said the Grey Cup match-up is fine by Calgarians, so long as the Roughriders and Eskimos aren’t in the game.
- Riders/Eskimos/Ticats alum Eddie Steele joined the show from Edmonton and came out slinging with analysis of the West Final. He said he was never a big fan of Riders offensive coordinator Stephen McAdoo’s schemes, but there’s also onus on the players and head coach Craig Dickenson. Eddie also offered that Jeremy O’Day should win GM of the Year and Hamilton’s Orlondo Steinauer should take Coach of the Year.
- In honour of show #118 the guys recognized sports figures who’ve worn #18 in their career and the group included Jeff Fairholm, Peyton Manning, Denis Savard, Mike Ricci, Allen Pitts, Kyle Busch and Randall Cobb.
