TUESDAY SHOW RECAP: JAMES DUTHIE JOINS!

JAMESDUTHIE

We had more rollicking good fun on Episode #246 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights;

  • Rod and Dupes opened with The Rollout for Flooring Superstore covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) People are idiots (people complained Monday’s show included 5-minutes on racial injustice), 2) A conclusion to the T.J. Jones saga, 3) We should know the fate of the 2020 MLB season within a week, 4) MLB players blame tanking teams for declining attendance over the past four years, 5) The NBA targeting a late-July Return To Play, and 6) Staying on top of all sports at this time (Rod said it’s not hard when you don’t have to focus all your attention on just one team).
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who’s your favourite Seinfeld character? Rod and Dupes voted for Jerry however Kramer was the overwhelming favourite of voters.
  • Former Canucks/Flames/Hurricanes/Devils goaltender Eddie Lack joined the show from his home in Arizona. He discussed his new business Eddie Lack Real Estate, bad hips forcing the end of his NHL career, his preference of Friends over Seinfeld, and much, much more.
  • Vancouver Canucks broadcaster Brendan Batchelor joined the show to discuss the Canucks/Wild first round match-up, his favourite NHL referee (Wes McCauley), long-suffering Canucks fans, and said his favourite Seinfeld character is Jerry Stiller/Frank Costanza.
  • TSN’s James Duthie joined the show from his home in Toronto and discussed a variety of things including the 30 for 30 documentary on Lance Armstrong, he defended himself against Darren Dreger’s claims that he’s an annoying golf partner, his love for his hometown Ottawa Rough Riders and predicted that the NHL will Return To Play but the CFL will not.
  • Leafs alum and TSN 1050 morning host Carlo Colaiacovo joined the show and admitted he’s never seen one episode of Seinfeld. He previewed the Leafs/Blue Jackets first round match-up and warned that a market correction is coming to sports.
  • On the sports economy, Rod and Dupes examined where pro sports is going and Rod predicted that we will see ticket prices plummet due to the jobless rate. That, in turn, will drop salaries across all pro leagues. He feels that’s something no one’s talking about, and players refuse to acknowledge. RP admitted that’s why he loves CFL players so much; they live in the same reality as the rest of us, needing to budget, plan ahead, etc.
  • Regarding #BlackoutTuesday across peoples’ social media feeds in support of racial injustice, Rod feels that it’s admirable but it should be a 365-day effort rather than just one day. The same goes for Mental Health, Diabetes, Sexual Abuse, etc movements.
  • You can vote now on our Twitter poll for the RoxDar of the Day. At press time, Eddie Lack was leading. Monday’s vote was won by Damon Allen.
