TUESDAY SHOW RECAP: LAWLESS & ORDER!

LAWLESS

Episode #280 of The Rod Pedersen was more big fun! Read on for the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes opened with The Rollout for Flooring Superstores covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) A bidding war erupts between Manitoba and Saskatchewan to host the CFL Hub City, 2) The NFL proposes to its players no preseason games in 2020, 3) The NHL Norris Trophy finalists were announced Monday – John Carlson, Victor Hedman and Roman Josi. The Hart candidates are to be announced Tuesday, 4) The Blue Jays are homeless, 5) The CEBL Summer Series tips off Saturday in St. Catherines, ON and the Saskatchewan Rattlers’ first game is Sunday versus Niagara at 11:30 am MT on CBC Gem, and 6) CFL SIM Week 7 games: Montreal at BC, Edmonton at Ottawa, Hamilton at Calgary and Touchdown Atlantic featuring Saskatchewan versus Toronto.
  • Vegas Golden Knights Insider Gary Lawless joined the show from Summerlin, NV sporting a Brandon Wheat Kings T-shirt. Gary reported it was a gift from the Wheaties when their office staff came for a visit. Gary discussed Golden Knights training camp and said they’re crisp since most players stayed in Vegas during the pause. Lawless said we can expect to see both Golden Knights goalies Marc-Andre Fleury and Robin Lehner during the Stanley Cup Playoffs and also explained the new contract for forward Ryan Reaves. (“He’s the best fighter in the NHL,” Gary said). Regarding the CFL, Lawless said he’s on the players’ side during this critical time and is skeptical players will want to accept the owners’ proposal for Return To Play.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in CFL SIM Week 7? At press time, Touchdown Atlantic was winning by a landslide meaning we’ll broadcast that computer-generated game Thursday at 7:00 pm MT on The RP Show Facebook Live channel.
  • Hour 2 was broadcast on Facebook Live only and hockey analyst Kelly Remple joined the bunker. The Silver Fox said there’s a large appetite amongst WHL types to play this fall, and thinks we’ll have major junior hockey to watch and support. Remple also examined the plight of CFL and NFL players at this time and discussed the name of his beloved Minnesota Vikings. He can’t foresee the franchise ever being forced to change its name.
  • Sportsnet 650 Vancouver’s Andrew Walker joined the show to discuss the NHL’s Return To Play and the fickle nature of Vancouver sports fans. He worries about the future and visibility of the BC Lions if there’s no season in 2020. Walks also reflected on his Twitter spat with Rod this spring regarding the return of sports being a priority. Andrew “walked back” his comments saying he sees its importance but only if public health isn’t compromised.
  • You can vote now on our Twitter poll for the Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions. At press time, Gary Lawless was leading. Monday’s vote was won by Wes Cates.
