It’s Tuesday and time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly! Today it’s all about perspective:

First the good: There’s one week to go in the CFL regular season and there’s lots of buzz about the playoffs. But it’s not all good. One of our cherished sponsors – Kirby Kazeil, owner of SUDS Full Service Car Wash – is beside himself. You see, Kirby’s son-in-law Derrick Moncrief plays for the Calgary Stampeders and Kirby, rightfully, can’t figure out why, if the Riders and Stampeders both finish with 9 wins, why the Riders get in but Calgary does not, since the Stamps won the tie-breaker.

We’ve been going back and forth about it for two days and nobody can give Kirby the answer! In the end it may not matter if Saskatchewan beats Edmonton this weekend at home (giving them 10 wins), which I think they will, but for now Mr. Kazeil is beyond puzzled. If anybody out there has the magic formula, please stop in at SUDS this week and tell Kirby.

It’s good that I don’t have to answer for it, because it makes no sense to me either.

Next the great: Again, perspective. Huge game for the Leafs Monday night – they beat San Jose 3-1 – but it sounds like few people got to watch it because it was only offered on a premium streaming service over-and-above what Leafs fans are already paying to watch the games on cable. Honestly, I don’t really understand how it all works but Stevie Wonder can see that the NHL has a problem with this many fans and media griping about it every night.

Not sure what the solution is but I pay $40/month for ESPN+ and get every single NHL game every night. So that’s great! Gavin McKenna looked great on the Leafs powerplay, even scoring a goal, while Sharks young star Macklin Celebrini had a nice game too. I enjoyed Drew Remenda’s call of it on Sharks TV.

And finally the ugly: The Jays & Yankees are out of the MLB playoffs so I haven’t been watching every pitch, but of course I’m following. The Tampa Bay Rays clinched the ALCS Monday night with a 7-3 victory over Cleveland at The Trop and it sets up a first-ever meeting of Milwaukee and Tampa for the World Series.

As for Cleveland, they’ve gone 78 years without a World Series title, the longest in the majors.

Now that’s ugly.
