Wednesday Commentary: On, And On, And On

It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday! Let’s get started …

#1 – What’s the big story? For me it’s the NHL preseason and the start of hockey season across all the leagues. Rod Brind’Amour’s idea of getting rid of the preseason was extinguished about as fast as it came up, so that’s a good thing.

The latest now is the Ottawa Senators owner coming out at league meetings and pretty much accusing the Tkachuks of tampering, to get Brady out of the nation’s capital and down here to Florida with his brother.

This story is going to go on, and on, and on. Forever maybe. But I’ve always felt players should be allowed to play where they want to play.

#2 – My Vegas oddsmaker friends tell me the New York Giants were taking the most money at the sportsbooks to win the Super Bowl before the season started. Now, two games in, they’re probably taking the least after word came out that star young Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is likely out for the season after suffering a knee injury on Monday Night Football.

Some teams just have a dark cloud over them.

#3 – Did you see the story where longtime, but former, Buffalo Bills announcer John Murphy had his press pass revoked by the team for being critical of new Bills head coach Joe Brady? So many have asked my thoughts on the story and all I can say is, it’s a scary time in the business. 

Very scary.

And #4 – The Blue Jays aren’t going to be in the playoffs but they took a good swing at it and the MLB postseason will be entertaining regardless. Interesting to see the Rays clinch the AL East on Tuesday, knocking off the Yankees. Whomever comes out of the AL will be lining up against the Dodgers in the World Series anyways.

If what they say is true, enjoy it, because it’s the last we’re gonna see for awhile.
