Wednesday Commentary: Random Thoughts

Look at that! It’s already Random Thoughts Wednesday.
#1 – It’s Week 1 of the NFL season and wouldn’t you know it, they’re hogging almost all of the coverage in the game. Tuesday night’s season preview on NFL Network was two hours of great television and the thing I took away the most from it was … those guys & gals are having fun!
That’s the way it’s supposed to be.
#2 – The hotly anticipated Week 2 College Football Rankings came out Tuesday and following the weekend’s action, OSU took over #1 while the Texas Longhorns tumbled all the way down to #7. Penn State held steady at #2 and Miami jumped all the way up to #5.
As it turns out, it’s not really that hard to follow. All you need to do is watch the games!
If you can believe, seven seasons ago when I left my job as Voice of the Riders, I couldn’t even tell you what NFL teams were in what division or conference, let alone college.
It’s been a heckuva lot of fun to learn.
#3 – World Series champion and former Blue Jays catcher & analyst Gregg Zaun brought some good news for Toronto on Tuesday’s RP Show. Zaunie believes the Jays have what it takes to win it all this year. What it’s going to take is to not overwork their relievers this month, and some wise decisions by manager John Schneider. Sounds like fun!
And #4 – I’m not sure I have it in me to follow the ups and downs of this Connor McDavid contract extension talk being thrown around in Edmonton and across the NHL. On Tuesday apparently there was a report that he’d signed his extension, then it was quickly deleted. One insider said a signing is imminent while another one says it’s not.
Can’t do it. Wake up me for the news conference.

CFL = Boring with a capital B! Mr. Pedersen puts out a excellent Sports Blog known world wide with a wide range of subjects. To only cover a pathetic nine team minor league is insane, I’m a poll reader and I know the lowbrow riderville fans load up these polls to their liking or dislike. Saskatchewan is lucky to have Rod Pedersen on a daily basis both here in print and on his show.
US College Football, Penn State is where its at this season, winning!
Connor McDavid, he’d be doing a disservice onto himself signing a contract this season with Edmonton. Let Krill set the contract bar (8 year, 112m?) in Minnesota with the Wild then gauge the monetary values moving forward for Connor.
Toronto Blue Jays are looking good, but their relievers are suspect. Hopefully that bullpen rectifies themselves, Go Blue Jays!
