WEDNESDAY COMMENTARY – SOME ELATION IN RIDER NATION

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 FM & Rock 98.5 FM)

THERE’S STARTING TO BE SOME ELATION IN RIDER NATION.

ON TUESDAY THE RIDERS ISSUED A STATEMENT SAYING THEY’VE GOTTEN THE GREEN LIGHT FROM PREMIER SCOTT MOE TO WELCOME FULL CAPACITY CROWDS TO MOSAIC STADIUM THIS SUMMER AS PART OF STEP THREE OF THE GOVERNMENT’S RE-OPENING PLAN.

ALL WE CAN DO IS GO BY WHAT WE HEAR, AND THIS IS CERTAINLY VERY POSITIVE NEWS.

OUR PROVINCE HAS BEEN THE ENVY OF THE COUNTRY WITH THE WAY THE VACCINATION PLAN HAS WORKED AND WITH MILLIONS MORE VACCINE DOSES ON THE WAY TO CANADA, THINGS ARE LINING UP NICELY.

IN FACT SCOTT IS HOPING TO HAVE THE PROVINCE FULLY RE-OPENED BY JULY 11. THE PLAN IS TO HAVE MOST RESTRICTIONS REMOVED THREE WEEKS AFTER 70 PER CENT OF THOSE AGED 12 AND OVER HAVE RECEIVED THEIR FIRST SHOT.

RIGHT NOW WE’RE AT 62 PER CENT.

ENTICING PEOPLE WITH BEING ABLE TO ATTEND RIDER GAMES PROBABLY IS A PRETTY WISE STRATEGY AROUND HERE.

MEANWHILE ONTARIO IS LIFTING THEIR STAY-AT-HOME ORDER TODAY.

I’VE STOPPED WITH BEING CYNICAL OR CRITICAL AND STARTED JUST HOPING FOR THE BEST AND HOPING THOSE AROUND US DO THEIR PART. THAT INCLUDES GETTING THEIR SHOT AND FOLLOWING THE PROTOCOLS, WHICH APPARENTLY THEY ARE.

HOWEVER QUESTIONS DO KEEP POPPING INTO MY HEAD EVERY TIME I SEE THESE ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REGARDING FULL CAPACITY FOR RIDER GAMES THIS SUMMER, MY DARNED INNER VOICE IMMEDIATELY ASKED, “WHO ARE THEY GOING TO PLAY?”

BUT WE’LL LEAVE IT TO THE LEADERS TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS AND CONTINUE TO HOPE FOR THE BEST.

THE LEADERS HAVE PUT IN SOME LONG HOURS TRYING TO FIGURE THIS STUFF OUT, AND LORD KNOWS THEY’RE PAID WELL ENOUGH TO DO IT.
