WEDNESDAY COMMENTARY: TAKE IT ON THE CHIN

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on Cat Country 98, Rock 98.5 FM & LTD Radio)

Wednesdays are for random thoughts and today we have many …

#1 – Opening night in the NHL did not disappoint, with Tampa Bay, Chicago and Vegas all winning in the tripleheader.

Nor did Connor Bedard, who really did live up to the hype by leading all Blackhawk forwards in icetime, and notching an assist for his first NHL point.

He’s as dependable as the sun coming up each morning, and makes my bold predictions real easy.

#2 – The NHL is just getting hammered on for their stance this week of banning rainbow stick tape and declining to support the Pride movement.

I don’t like it cuz I think hockey should be for everyone but more than anything, I think the NHL really wishes they could just put that horse back in the trailer. That’s what they’re trying to do here, and take it on the chin.

Meanwhile, remember when the “Pink” game used to be the only one that generated a controversy?

Craziness.

#3 – All summer long in Calgary, the feeling was that the Stampeders would get it together in the end, once it mattered.

I felt that was a dangerous game to play, but bit my tongue. (I don’t prefer arguments anymore). Well lo and behold, here we are: At 4-11, the Stamps have three games remaining including Friday night against Saskatchewan at McMahon Stadium and really that final playoff spot will likely come down to that, between them and the Riders.

What happened before doesn’t matter now; it’s all about the present. What a microcosm of life!

On the flipside, it looks real easy in black and white; all the Riders need to do is win a game to clinch that final playoff spot for themselves.

Trouble is, they haven’t been able to do that since Labour Day.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

The key take away is hockey is most certainly not for everyone. It never has been. They clamped the gay stuff and black lives matter stuff down. Now it’s back to normal and shut up and play. 1991 Daryl Lubinikis response to magic Johnson getting hiv…”we don’t have any players with limp wrists” those same players now coach and run hockey associations and teams I have watched the coaches of 8 yr Olds double shift their kid and/or get people to play so called AAA take the families money and bench kids. – a couple even have their own nhl… Read more »

Riders are a dumpster fire. The players are under skilled, the coaches are inept and the management is poor at best. I am a die hard Rider fan but actually hope they dont make the playoffs so something drastic will then take place and clean er out.

Putting pride tape on a stick doesn’t mean to me that gays are welcome. No one ever said they aren’t allowed into the rink. I know some that weren’t allowed though. Does having black tape mean they are supporting BLM or white tape they are KKK? So dumb in my opinion. Be who you want to be, but stop pushing your agenda on me.

This is virtue signalling. An agenda is taking a roll as Teacher primarly for summers off but because a humanities degree is worthless so they go to the teachers college. – then it’s a matter of what they learned or were indoctrinated with from age 18-22 with their humanities Professors. From there it’s time to join a Teachers Federation/Union. Rather than “teach” – they spend the day at the Legislature explaining why Parents should not be told what’s going on with their kids at the local school – this is done to explain that women with female body parts are… Read more »
