Wednesday Commentary: Talk’s Cheap

It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday … let’s go!
#1 – There’s no doubting which league is better in MLB; the American League beat the National 4-0 in Tuesday’s All Star Game in Philadelphia for the junior circuit’s 11th victory in the past 13 seasons. And Toronto ace Dylan Cease – the AL strikeout leader – set the tone by fanning the first three batters he faced in becoming the first Blue Jay since Roy Halladay to start an All Star Game.
It was the first shutout since 2013 so if you like defensive baseball, this one was for you.
#2 – I didn’t watch an inning of it, but that’s okay. The Moose Jaw Miller Express won our eighth in a row, blasting Fort McMurray 18-3 on Bark In The Park night at Ross Wells Park. The highlight of the night for me? A guy named “Pete From Arizona” came up to the press box before the game to say that Ross Wells is the 528th pro or college ballpark he’s visited as he’s making a summer tour across the WCBL.
Those are the kinds of stories I just love and make this career so rewarding. He’ll continue his tour somewhere else tonight while our four-game homestand continues with Game 2 against these same Giants. We’re also home Thursday-Friday and the Millers are the hottest team in the league.
#3 – I’ve had my fill of World Cup. There, I said it.
#4 – It’s Week 7 in the CFL and man, is it going by fast. Yesterday’s commentary drew few comments as to why people aren’t packing Mosaic Stadium despite the Riders having the best team in the league. It’s a debate I’m still willing to have, although it’ll take longer than the 90 seconds we have here.
And #5 – We got ‘em going on The RP Show Facebook page about CFL expansion — should it be to Kelowna or Quebec City? I’m fascinated with much football fans like to talk about this even though there really is no solid indication it’s going to happen.
After all, talk’s cheap.
