WEDNESDAY COMMENTARY – THE GOOD, THE GREAT & THE UGLY
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 FM & Rock 98.5 FM)
IT’S TIME FOR ANOTHER EDITION OF EVERYBODY’S FAVOUR GAME SHOW – THE GOOD, THE GREAT & THE UGLY!
IT WENT OVER SO WELL ON MONDAY THAT I THOUGHT WE’D DO IT AGAIN …
THE GOOD: SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS QUARTERBACK CODY FAJARDO HAS BEEN NAMED CFL PLAYER OF THE WEEK IN BACK TO BACK WEEKS.
THERE’S NO BIGGER CODY FAN THAN ME – NOT NAMED FAJARDO – BUT I WAS A LITTLE SURPRISED HE GOT THE NOD AGAIN. YES HE THREW FOR OVER 300 YARDS IN SATURDAY’S WIN OVER OTTAWA AND RUSHED FOR A TD. HOWEVER HE NEVER THREW FOR ANY AND IT JUST LOOKED LIKE ANOTHER TYPICAL FAJARDO OUTING: CLEAN.
MAYBE I’M ALREADY GETTING USED TO HIS “STELLAR-NESS”. AND THAT WOULD BE WRONG OF ME.
THE GREAT: THE CENTENNIAL CUP HOST ESTEVAN BRUINS HAVE ALREADY OPENED TRAINING CAMP AND PLAYERS FROM ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE FLYING INTO REGINA AND HEADING TO BRUINS CAMP. THEY MUST’VE BEEN GIVEN AN EXEMPTION BY THE LEAGUE AS OTHER TEAMS ARE STILL A LONG WAYS FROM GETTING GOING.
MEANWHILE ON MONDAY THE NHL PRESEASON SCHEDULE WAS ANNOUNCED WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY ANOTHER SIGN THAT THE SEASON IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. THE GREAT THING ABOUT THIS IS THAT I PLAN TO ATTEND SOME GAMES IN THE U.S. NEXT MONTH AND WILL BE HOSTING THE ROD PEDERSEN SHOW FROM THOSE SOUTHERN LOCALES.
AND THE UGLY: MEANWHILE IN CANADA, IT APPEARS WE’RE IN UTTER CHAOS. SOME PROVINCES HAVE GONE BACK TO MASK MANDATES AND NOW TRAVEL FIGURES TO BE GREATLY IMPACTED. THIS IS VERY GRIM FOR THE CFL.
I THOUGHT BC’S TOP DOCTOR BONNIE HENRY SAID WE’D BE LIVING A “POST-PANDEMIC LIFE” BY AUGUST?
MEANWHILE THE RIDERS HAVEN’T MADE A DECISION YET ON WHETHER TO REQUIRE PROOF OF VACCINATION TO ATTEND GAMES. I’M SURE IT’S NOT AN EASY DECISION BUT I’VE ATTENDED MORE BOMBER GAMES THAN RIDER GAMES THIS SUMMER AND GETTING INTO I-G FIELD WAS LICKETY-SPLIT WITH MY VACCINATION CARD AND PHOTO I-D.
DON’T COME HERE FOR THE ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS. I CAN’T EXPLAIN ANY OF THIS!
