WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: CFL DRAFT RECAP AND TOM WILSON TALK!

Wednesday was a fiery Episode #478 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow! Read on for the rundown:

  • We had six show topics in the Quick Six but only needed 2! Here they are for the Four Seasons Sports Palace: 1) CFL Draft Recap – it was a fantastic night and a great draft!, 2) The NY Rangers Tweet that the NHL’s George Parros is unfit to run the Department of Player Safety in the aftermath of the Tom Wilson/Artemi Panarin fiasco, 3) The Jays fall 4-1 in Oakland and George Springer is hurt again, 4) The Raptors fall 105-100 to the Clippers and are fading fast, 5) The NBA’s new Play-In format, and 6) The CFL’s Return To Play.
  • We went deeeeeeeep on the NY Rangers/Tom Wilson situation with opinions from both RP and Moose who don’t feel the Rangers were out of line with their Tweet. (Later in the day the Rangers fired President John Davidson and GM Jeff Gorton). Rod said New York doesn’t have a goon to stand up to Wilson and in the old days, the Rangers would’ve called up a meathead for tonight’s return engagement between the Rangers and Capitals at MSG. This is just the way the game is now.
  • TSN 1260 Edmonton’s Jason Gregor joined the show and disagreed with Rod on many points, most notably that although Tom Wilson “could’ve” killed Artemi Panarin Monday night, the fact is he didn’t. The pair went back and forth on the job George Parros has done and didn’t agree on much! It was an engaging chat. Regarding the CFL Draft, Gregor admitted he “loves the CFL” but doesn’t talk about it much on his show because so little is known on its direction.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: What SHOULD have Tom Wilson gotten for discipline – Fine, Suspension, Fine & Suspension or Nothing? At press time, Fine & Suspension was leading.
  • In the Hour 2 Second Half Kickoff we were joined by 3DownNation writer John Hodge from Winnipeg to recap the Draft. He feels the Saskatchewan Roughriders won the draft even if some Sask football fans are upset two Rams (Robbie Lowes and Kyle Borsa) went to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. John felt there were some very surprising picks and he outlined them all, and gave deep examination on each team’s selections.
  • Former Saskatchewan junior hockey players Daniel Wapple and Tyson Enzie from InCREASE Athletics joined the show to talk about the latest NHL topics (they feel $5000 was too light for Tom Wilson and that Tampa Bay’s Andrei Vasilevskiy is a lock for the Vezina). The pair offers personal coaching for young hockey players and their company’s been immensely successful. You can easily find them on all their social media channels.
  • RP and Moose Faced Off on which CFL team they’d like to own, and the reasons why. Rod chose the B.C. Lions while Darren opted for the Toronto Argonauts. The Face Off is a presentation of The Mad Greek Restaurant and Ultimate Fan Zone Moose Jaw.
  • The final two segments were devoted to Viewer Takeover and we had a passionate debate with viewers over the future of the CFL, the New York Rangers, and much, much more.
