Wednesday’s Episode #343 was rollicking good fun on the RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show! Here’s the rundown:

  • Rod was joined by 10-year veteran and Grey Cup champ Mike Abou-Mechrek for The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Dodgers spank the Rays 8-3 in Game 1 of the World Series, 2) Bomber voice Bob Irving lashed out at Randy Ambrosie critics on Twitter and said the CFL will return when Covid disappears, 3) The Blackhawks announce a rebuild, 4) Should the Dolphins be starting Tua?, 5) Is Mike Vrabel the best head coach in the NFL?, and 6) It’s CFL SIM Game Day with Hamilton visiting Saskatchewan at 7:00 pm on the RP Show Facebook channel.
  • TSN CFL insider Dave Naylor mentioned on TSN 1040 Vancouver Wednesday morning that the CFL could be “mothballed” if there’s no season in 2021. RP and Abou debated the ramifications if that’s the case, and examined the challenges the league and its teams are facing at this time.
  • TSN 1260 Edmonton’s and CFL On TSN’s Dustin Nielson joined the show to discuss all these topics. Like RP, he’s not sure what the term “mothball” means but said, “It can’t be good”. He’s got his fingers crossed that there will be a 2021 season and is hopeful at least some fans will be allowed to attend games. Regarding Gary Bettman’s statement that the NHL will return on January 1, Dustin said Bettman doesn’t make these comments likely but feels the NHL season won’t commence until the third week of January. He also discussed pandemic life in Edmonton at the moment and said given rising Covid numbers, there likely should be more restrictions put in place.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who are you cheering for in the World Series – Dodgers or Rays? At press time around 70% of respondents voted for LA.
  • Hour 2 was broadcast on Facebook Live only and we were joined by Matt Dunstone, skip of Team Dunstone, the reigning Saskatchewan mens champs. He recapped his team’s win in this past weekend’s Vaderstad Sask Super Series and marvelled at viewership of close to 100,000 on streaming video. The Winnipeg product said there’s a 24-team event this weekend at the Highland, said womens curling is planning similar events, discussed the territorial rules for teams and said as far as he knows, the plan is to go ahead with provincial playdowns.
  • RP Show Director of Scouting Craig Smith joined the show to preview Week 7 in the NFL. He said he was shocked the Dolphins are starting Tua so early in his career given the success (3-3) they’re having with Ryan Fitzpatrick. He’s sticking to his guns on his Top 5 ratings at the start of the season but was surprised at Green Bays meltdown in Tampa in Week 6. Smitty answered several viewers’ questions about the NFL.
  • You can vote now on our Twitter poll for the Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions. At press time, Abou was leading. Tuesday’s vote was won by Ricky Ray.
