WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: FARHAN, FAIRHOLM & MORE

We tackled the latest hot topics in the world of sports on Wednesday’s Episode #789 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – live from the Grey Eagle Event Centre! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked things off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) A review of Elvis – The Movie. You’ve gotta go!, 2) The Blue Jays beat Boston 6-5 and go for the sweep Wednesday night. (Should Vlady be speaking more English rather than using a translator?), 3) More Hockey Hall of Fame snubs, including Jeremy Roenick, 4) The Memorial Cup final goes Wednesday night between Hamilton and Saint John in New Brunswick, 5) A CFL Week 4 preview and Deal or No Deal, and 6) Reporters’ questions at the LIV Golf Oregon event are appalling.
  • Here are the Week 4 Bet Regal betting lines in the CFL: BC at Ottawa (Lions favoured by 2.5), Edmonton at Hamilton (Ticats favoured by 7), Montreal at Saskatchewan (Riders favoured by 5) and Winnipeg at Toronto (Bombers favoured by 5).
  • TSN’s Farhan Lalji joined the show from Vancouver and said he won’t be covering this weekend’s LIV Golf event down the coast in Oregon. Farhan explained the meteoric rise of Lions QB Nathan Rourke and took us behind-the-scenes regarding what the Canadian sensation is really like as a person. The guys discussed CFL storylines early in the season and Lalji said he’s surprised the Edmonton Elks have been so bad.
  • In Hour 2 we were joined by 2-time Grey Cup champion and Plaza of Honour member Jeff Fairholm. The Rider great has become very active on Twitter and said he enjoys the debates with fans. He’s generally optimistic about the Riders given their 2-1 start and expects them to beat the Alouettes on Saturday. Jeff stayed for most of Hour 2 and discussed the career o this father Larry Fairholm with the Montreal Alouettes, the CFL’s American expansion experiment in the 1990s and the prospects of the Atlantic Schooners ever coming to fruition.
  • Regarding Larry and Jeff Fairholm, the topic caught fire of famous CFL father-and-son combos. Others which came up were Neil and Jessie Lumsden, Ted and Mark Urness, and Cory, Jalen & Tyson Philpot.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in Week 2 of the CFL season? At press time the Lions/RedBlacks were leading.
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Ricky Ray. Wednesday’s was Jeff Fairholm!
