We had some big sports names and longtime friends drop by on Episode #492 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow – on Wednesday! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Tuesday NHL leftovers (the Leafs/Canadiens series is a snoozer), 2) Wayne Gretzky signs on at TNT – who else would we like to see?, 3) Vladdy leads MLB in homeruns, 4) More on NFL minicamps and no-shows, 5) The Oilers’ Ethan Bear is dealing with racism. Again. And 6) CFL conjecture season conjecture.
  • J.T. O’Sullivan – a longtime NFL QB (2004-2011) and Roughrider (2012) joined the show from San Diego for a long-awaited catch up. J.T. talked about his wildly popular QB School YouTube channel where he breaks down film for football fans and prospects. He discussed his NFL tour, his time in NFL Europe, and his brief stint in Saskatchewan. He and Rod became great friends in a short amount of time and they reminisced over what was going on at the time (the beginning of the Chamblin/Taman era). J.T. said he’s badly in search of a remarkable touchdown pass he threw to Ismael Bamba in the 2012 CFL preseason and Rod vowed to find it for him. O’Sullivan said he’s long been a fan of Rod’s work and appreciates his honesty, authenticity and respect for the players. “The media has changed,” J.T. observed.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which NHL greybeard are you most hoping will win a Stanley Cup this year – Joe Thornton, Jordan Eberle, Carey Price or Blake Wheeler? At press time, Joe Thornton was leading.
  • In the Hour 2 Second Half kickoff news broke that the National Lacrosse League has awarded an expansion franchise to Las Vegas. Rod and Darren talked about this development and said it’s tremendous news for both the NLL and Sin City.
  • NHL great Theoren Fleury joined the show from Calgary. He and Rod attended the Recovery Coach Academy together last week and the pair shared that aspect of their lives. Theo said he loves the turmoil the Oilers are in, touched on some Stanley Cup Playoff series, and said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is the exact opposite of every great leader he’s ever played for! Regarding racism that Ethan Bear is facing, Rod and Theo agreed that it’s not Ethan’s problem. It’s the racists.

I must have watched this Theoren Fleury interview 4 or 5 times on Youtube. That delivery regarding Trudeau is where many of us are. No need to talk about “him”, but when “he” gets mentioned, the bait is on the hook, the clock ticks, temperature rises, and then off it goes. He was not wrong one iota is summing up our current and hopefully soon to be gone Prime Minister. The absolute worst of the worst and go read up on PM Bennett. Trudeau makes that scumbag look like Winston Churchill/JFK/Romeo Dallaire all in one. Theoren Fleury, I just have… Read more »
