WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: GETER & TEABAG!

Wednesday’s Episode #512 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show – had some emotional ups and downs! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup for EECOL Electric covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) What’s with all the retirements in the CFL?, 2) Montreal beats Vegas 4-1 to take a 3-2 series lead, 3) The Lightning look to eliminate the Islanders Wednesday night, 4) George Springer goes 0/4 in the Jays’ 2-1 win over the Marlins, 5) The Cinderella Phoenix Suns, and 6) Soccer?
  • Former Roughriders/Alouettes defensive lineman Chad Geter joined the show from Virginia to discuss his difficult decision to retire from the CFL and join the United States Air Force. “The future me will thank the current me for this decision,” Geter said however the pain in his eyes was evident. Geter talked about what he loved most about being a Roughrider and said his best moment was coming out of the tunnel for a preseason game in 2018 at home. He detailed his goals in the USAF and talked about the struggles CFL players have faced during the past 16 months in the pandemic. We wish Chad well!
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Will the Golden Knights come back to beat Montreal? At press time results were around 50/50.
  • In the Hour 2 Second Half Kickoff we spent a lot of time on the Stanley Cup Playoffs, made more predictions and also had loads of CFL talk. The Second Half Kickoff is a presentation of the Four Seasons Sports Palace.
  • Former Saskatchewan senior hockey goalie (Assiniboia Southern Rebels) and author Jerry “Teabag” Hack joined the show from Vancouver to discuss his book Hockey Nobody where he chronicles his story as a street/floor hockey goalie who eventually made a living on the senior circuit in Sask. He brought many old names from the 1980s South Central Hockey League and Rod admitted that he attended those games in Milestone, SK. Jerry said he was given his unusual nickname by a teammate who said, “You’re like a teabag; everything goes through you!”
  • Rod and Dupes Faced Off on which nickname would you rather have as a goalie: Teabag or Red Light? Rod opted for Red Light while Darren chose Teabag since it’s a great conversation starter! The Face Off is a presentation of UFZ Moose Jaw and The Mad Greek Restaurant.
