We had a good Saskatchewan Day on Episode #444 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow – on Wednesday! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont opened with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Tuesday NHL leftovers (No Scotia North games), 2) United Football Players Association fallout (Rod says the union’s heart is in the right place but missed the mark with the announcement of the CFL planning to cancel 2021 and 2022 seasons), 3) The Warriors top the Pats 5-4 in OT in a wild game, 4) TSN’s Gord Miller refuses to appear on Barstool shows, 5) NFL free agency deals including Dalton to the Bears and T-Mobile to the Dolphins, and 6) The Toronto Blue Jays pick up the option on skipper Charlie Montoyo’s deal for 2022. We’re all in agreement!
  • Saskatchewan Rattlers GM Barry Rawlyk and head coach Chad Jacobson joined the show from Saskatoon to preview the CEBL season. They discussed their showing in last year’s Summer Series bubble in St. Catherines, ON, talked about this year’s roster, and the league’s tremendous growth with the assistance of the NBA. Tickets will be made available from the team’s website as Sask Covid restrictions lift.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who do you support in this latest Twitter feud – Gord Miller, Barstool or The Middle? At press time, the majority voted for Gord Miller.
  • In Hour 2 we re-upped the Quick Six in the second half kickoff and discussed the news that Ontario’s Sport Minister Lisa McLeod is open to a CFL bubble in 2021. RP wondered what’s different from 2020 in the regard? The NHL, WHL, QMJHL, CEBL, and Curling Canada have all been able to play in bubbles.
  • Former Humboldt Bronco Kaleb Dahlgren joined the show to discuss his book CROSSROAD and being a survivor of the Broncos bus tragedy. Kaleb said the notion of writing a book kept coming up during public speaking appearances and said his story has proven to inspire people. At the end of the day, Kaleb says his goal is to help people but explained writing the book has also helped him to heal. Dahlgren said he hopes to become a chiropractor but also coach hockey on the side. He admitted he doesn’t want to be “famous” because of his life story but Rod advised he has to just go with it. The book is available now in all bookstores through Harper Collins.
