WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: LOADS OF CFL TALK, SLAPSHOT & MORE!

IMG_8783

It was a hump day edition on Episode #557 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow – on Wednesday! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup for EECOL Electric covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Who will you cheer for in the MLB playoffs with the Blue Jays out? 2) How you feeling about your NFL team?, 3) Covid/CFL news, 4) What’s the biggest story in the NHL this year?, 5) The Blue Jays eke one out against the White Sox, and 6) We left it open!
  • First-year Montreal Alouettes play-by-play man Sean Campbell joined the show to discuss the Als’ first two games (1-1) and preview this Friday’s home-opener against Hamilton. Sean feels Montreal has had a leg up with very few changes to the offensive side of the football, feels the best is yet to come from QB Vernon Adams Jr., and has been pleasantly surprised by the play of their defense. Sean introduced himself to our audience and explained he’s been at TSN 690 Montreal for 15 years and also hosts the Canadiens postgame show. He feels the Habs will be a playoff team in 2021-22.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: What will be the biggest story in the NHL this year – Flower in Chicago, Seattle Kraken, Jack Eichel or a Lightning 3-peat? At press time, the Kraken were leading by a large margin.
  • In the Hour 2 Kickoff for CORR Grain we discussed the Patriots #1 QB battle, what current actors would star in a remake of the cult classic SLAPSHOT, and had lots of talk about the current Covid environment in Canada.
  • Next up was new Toronto Argonauts radio colour commentator Natey Adjei who explained the difficult decision to retire from the CFL and get into the broadcast booth (family & time were the main factors). Natey’s been extremely impressed with the 2-1 Argos and said they’re loaded with stars on both sides of the ball. Regarding the 0-2 Ticats, Adjei feels they’ll figure it out soon! It was a great, wide-ranging CFL chat. He also discussed this week’s postponement of the Argos/Elks game and fears there will be more outbreaks if teams don’t hit the vaccination threshold.
  • Wednesday’s show is available for viewing now on our YouTube/Facebook pages, you can catch the replay at 4:00 pm ET on Game+, listen to the podcast anytime by clicking on the CONTENT tab at the top of this page or listen anytime to our 24-hour live audio feed at RodPedersen.com/ListenLive.
  • See you at 12 pm ET/10 am MT Thursday on Game+ TV and Facebook/YouTube Live!

It’s a very good thing that Mr. Everything in Saskatchewan Mr. Chris Jones left his right hand man extra extraordinaire football talent scout Mr. Paul Jones as Assistant GM before he departed for the NFL, a very good thing. 12 Elk now infected. There’s got to be more infections not being reported out there in the CFL. All’s quite on that front.
