Did you know The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show – airs on Game+ on Cable TV in Philadelphia, PA? Well it’s true, and we brought on some Philly friends for Episode #409, plus the usual latest go’ings-on around here! Here’s the rundown:

  • Rod and Dupes kicked it off with The Warmup for Flooring Superstores covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Jets roar back to down the Oilers 6-4, 2) Break up the Leafs! They’re #1 in Canada after a 4-3 win at the Flames, and Vegas fell 5-4 in a shootout to St. Louis in Kelly McCrimmon’s debut behind the bench, 3) Rod explained how we’re in Week 2 of the NHL season if you break the 56-game schedule into 7-game segments, 4) Scott Milanovich made $500,000 (according to the Edmonton Sun) in 2020 without coaching a game?, 5) Aaron Rodgers announces he plans to stay in Green Bay, and 6) Super Bowl 55 chatter.
  • Longtime NHL goaltender and current NHL On NBC analyst Brian Boucher joined the show from Philadelphia to break down the opening two weeks in the NHL regular season. He discussed the up-and-down nature of the Flyers, said he was impressed by the “fire” shown by Flyers goalie Carter Hart recently by smashing his stick on a goal post, reflected on his time in the Stanley Cup Playoff bubble in-between-the-benches, and much more. RP wanted to quiz Boucher on his time with Tri-City in the WHL in the mid-1990s but a connection issue cut the interview short.
  • News broke during the show that the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed pending free agent QB Jeremiah Masoli. RP said his list of top CFL free agents has shifted with recent signings and the list is now: #1 Henoc Muamba, #2 Bryan Burnham, #3 Charleston Hughes, #4 Drake Nevis, #5 Avery Williams and #6 Greg Ellingson.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which happens first – Atlantic Schooners play a game, the Leafs win the Stanley Cup or Bo Levi Mitchell appears on the RP Show? At press time, a Bo Levi appearance was leading.
  • Hour 2 was simulcast on Game+ TV and Facebook Live and after re-upping the Quick Six, we were joined by Philadelphia’s Dan Seravalli, host of the Enterprize Sports podcast. The guys discussed all things Philly including heat on young Flyers goalie Carter Hart – a Team Canada hero and Sherwood Park, AB product – plus the Eagles firing head coach Doug Pederson, the emergence of the NBA’s 76ers and big signings by the Phillies. Dan and Rod got into a deep chat about the first few weeks of the NHL season and although they’re loving the MassMutual Division nightly match-ups, Dan admitted that the new scheduling is “weird”.
  • Rod and Darren Faced Off on the Baseball Hall of Fame announcing there will be no 2021 inductees due to the ongoing steroid scandal. The hosts were in agreement that the likes of Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, et al should be inducted, and faced off together AGAINST the Hall of Fame. It provided a fun back-and-forth with viewers.
