Wednesday’s show was Episode #81 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes opened the show with The Warmup where they discussed all the day’s hottest sports topics including Vernon Adams’ decision NOT to appeal his 1-game suspension for his actions in Montreal’s Week 15 game, Auston Matthews’ brush with security in Scottsdale in May (this was a them throughout the show), and Tuesday’s NHL preseason results.
  • Derek “Duke” Meyers joined the bunker in Segment 2 for a further debate on all these topics.
  • Saskatoon product Colby Armstrong – a Stanley Cup champion with Pittsburgh, a Memorial Cup champion with Red Deer and Sportsnet analyst – joined the show for a wide range of hockey topics including the NHL and the Blades being ranked the Dub’s #1 team. As far as the Auston Matthews situation goes, the “Arm Dog” thinks this shouldn’t affect his chances of being named captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
  • There was plenty of Rider talk too, and the guys debated what the daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question should be. The choices were “How many wins will the Riders achieve in their final six games?” and “How much should the Riders offer Cody Fajardo in their contract extension talks?” They settled on the Rider win total, and respondents voted in favour of “4”.
  • Saskatoon Blades President & GM Colin Priestner joined the show from Saskatoon where he gave viewers a tour of his office at SaskTel Centre. He discussed the road to get to their #1 ranking, and how happy they are to have delivered on their promise to “turn the Blades around”.
  • Former NHL’er and TSN Radio analyst Carlo Colaiacovo joined the show from his home in Toronto to give his take on the Auston Matthews situation and to provide a league-wide preview. He feels the accusations against Matthews are very serious and are not to be taken lightly.
  • In honour of show #81, the guys recognized players who’ve worn number-81 in their careers and the list included Geroy Simon, Ray Elgaard, Phil Kessel, Miroslav Satan, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss and Brayden Lenius-Dickey.
  • The panel also celebrated the milestone achievement of The Rod Pedersen Show surpassing 1,000,000 all-time views/listens across all our various platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Listen Live and podcasts. We celebrated with a post show lunch at Crave Kitchen provided by new show sponsor Sask Snow Beef!
