WEDNESDAY SHOW RECAP: ANOTHER PLAYER TAKEOVER!

We were joined by a bevy of CFL personalities on Wednesday’s Episode #237 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes opened with The Rollout for Flooring Superstore covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The NHL’s 24-team playoff format proposal, 2) Which teams would be favoured in this scenario?, 3) TSN’s NHL Insiders say the border closer extension to June 21 won’t affect the Return To Play (Rod cited an Associated Press article stating otherwise), 4) Riders sign Canadian LB Nakas Onyeka, 5) Tom Brady’s 2-hour throwing session with Buccaneers receivers on Tuesday, and 6) Will there be an NFL season and therefore an RP Show VIP Sports Experience II?
  • Two key things came up during the show: 1 – CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie would be making a statement on the league’s future at 1:00 pm Sask Time via a Virtual Town Hall, and 2 – A government official emailed Rod some information stating CFL players will be subject to U.S. and Canadian Government designation as essential workers if they hope to play in 2020.
  • TSN 1260 Edmonton’s Dave Jamieson joined Rod to talk about all these topics. As long-time employees in the CFL, Dave and Rod professed their love for the league and support for whatever it takes to play in 2020, and the long-term survival of the league. “Jame-O” was the Edmonton Eskimos PR Director for years. They also delved into the Stanley Cup Playoffs scenario and Dave stated that anything is better than nothing. He also examined the Oilers’ chances in these playoffs.
  • New Roughriders linebacker Nakas Onyeka joined the show from Toronto and discussed how pumped he is to join Riderville. He also explained his controversial Tweet a few weeks back – as a member of the Argos – asking why so many Canadians seem to hate the CFL? Nakas clarified that he wasn’t released by the Argos because of the Tweet, in fact he asked for his release.
  • The discussions continued into Hour 2 as Argos receiver Natey Adjei joined the show from Toronto. He described being released by the Eskimos this past January just before a bonus was due. Natey was quick to point out that he harbours no illwill towards Edmonton and understands the business of football. The 6-year vet talked about the Argos fortunes in 2020, what it’ll take to turn Toronto back onto the CFL, and talked about his new podcast.
  • Alouettes LB Henoc Muamba joined the show from Montreal to talk about the postponement of training camp, staying busy, being at home with his young kids, and expectations for the Alouettes. Henoc gave his thoughts on The Last Dance documentary on Netflix and said he strives to view life the same way Michael Jordan did; recognizing what he can control and what he can’t.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Are you in favour of the NHL’s 24-team playoff format proposal? Over 70% of voters said yes.
  • You can vote now on our Twitter poll for the Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions. At press time, Henoc Muamba was leading. Geroy Simon won Tuesday’s vote.
