WEDNESDAY SHOW RECAP: BRETT KISSEL JOINS!
Wednesday’s Episode #262 of The RP Show was as hot as a firecracker! Here are the highlights:
- To open The Rollout for Flooring Superstores, Rod opened with a rant on a potential snub for Theoren Fleury from the Hockey Hall of Fame. The 2020 inductees are to be unveiled Wednesday afternoon and RP felt if Theo’s snubbed again despite his Hall-worthy career, then the hockey world hasn’t come very far in reducing the “stigma” of the demons Fleury’s faced, and beaten.
- Then Rod and Dupes covered these Quick Six show topics: 1) Mike Richards’ Edmonton rant on Tuesday rankled people in the City of Champions, including the Oilers, 2) RP dreamt Tuesday night that the Canadiens beat the Penguins in Game 1 of their playoff play-in series, in overtime on a controversial offside goal, 3) NFL coverage is entertaining right now and it appears they’ll play!, 4) MLB plans to return with a 60-game schedule (the Blue Jays have a chance!), 5) The latest in the Bubba Wallace saga, and 6) Week 3 SIM storylines.
- 3-time Grey Cup champion Shawn Lemon joined the show from Orlando and said he’s not upset about being a free agent so far in 2020. He feels the CFL will return to play, and his services will be required by somebody. The Lemonator discussed his exit from Riderville in 2017 (over a spat with Chris Jones which has since been cleared up) and chatted about the Dallas Cowboys season with RP since both are Cowboys fans.
- Country sensation Brett Kissel joined the show to discuss last weekend’s three sold-out Drive In shows in Regina and how he tailored his set for the occasion. The Flat Lake, AB product talked about his career, his love for the Oilers and much more.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who is the most deserving Hockey Hall of Fame candidate – Jarome Iginla, Theoren Fleury, Daniel Alfredsson or Marian Hossa? At press time, Iginla was leading.
- The fun continued in Hour 2 as free agent WR Rashaun Simonise joined the show from Vancouver. The former Bengal, Blue Bomber and Lion discussed his career, staying ready, and how he’s been trained by his father John, a former pro baller.
- Fraser Valley Bandits (CEBL) point guard Joey Haywood joined the show from Vancouver to talk about the league’s Return To Play, his street ball career around the world, his movie career (he’s appeared in four films including Air Bud), and much more.
- RP and Dupes discussed the CFL’s All Decade team voting and Rod admitted he voted for Bo Levi Mitchell at the QB position. It created a fun back-and-forth with viewers.
- You can vote now on our Twitter poll for the Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions. At press time, Brett Kissel was leading. Tuesday’s vote was won by Wally Buono.
