Wednesday’s show was Episode #134 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes were back in the bunker from the Houston trip for The Rollout for Flooring Superstores. They brushed on the latest sports topics including the City of Halifax approving $20-million for a new stadium, Zach Collaros’s future in Winnipeg (Rod said he’s willing to bet anyone Zach signs with the Argos), Derrick Moncrief’s tryout with the Miami Dolphins, the Jim Montgomery/Dallas Stars saga (Rod and Darren agreed they DON’T want to know what led to Montgomery’s firing) and much more. They also recapped the Houston/Uniglobe trip with a photo album.
  • Argonauts kicker Zach Medeiros joined the show via video chat from Southern Ontario to talk about the team’s coaching situation (he hears O.C. Jacques Chapdelaine won’t return), the fraternity among pro football kickers, and much more. Zach will be a returning guest.
  • Argos fans watching from Toronto chimed in on the Facebook feed saying they’re happy with Argos ticket pricing, but want to know who the head coach will be in 2020 before they renew!
  • Montreal Alouettes head coach Khari Jones joined the show from his home in Vancouver to talk about his new 3-year deal with the Als. He said the current Alouettes ownership/GM situation is a tad backwards, but they are getting through it. Khari spoke of his good fortune with Montreal this year saying that taking over the team a week before their first game ended up a big thing because “It didn’t give me a lot of time to think about it”. He also reiterated that Vernon Adams is the team’s starting QB heading into 2020 and also gave his thoughts on the “Rainout” game in August between the Alouettes and Roughriders.
  • Postmedia digital media guru Austin Davis joined the bunker in Hour 2 to talk about the Halifax stadium situation. He doesn’t have a problem with taxpayers’ money going to new stadiums as long as it’s not too much money. He feels Regina taxpayers are on the hook for far too much of Mosaic Stadium. They also talked about sports media coverage in 2019 and Austin said there isn’t a huge appetite for major junior hockey coverage like there used to be.
  • Alouettes blogger Cliffy D. Pine joined the show from Montreal and said he feels the sale of the Alouettes has likely already gone through, and that they’re just ironing out the details before making an announcement. Like many Als season ticket holders, he can’t wait for 2020 under Khari Jones. Regarding the struggles the franchise has been through, Cliffy said “Just when you thought the team had hit rock bottom, it would fall even lower”. Now, he’s excited about the CFL in Montreal.
  • There was lots of discussion about the sports trip and that led to the daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question of: Where should next year’s RP Show/Uniglobe VIP Sports Trip destination be? South Florida, Southern California, New York or the NFC North (Chicago & Green Bay)? At press time, New York was leading by a nose.

Highly recommended and suggested;
Saskatchewan Roughriders need to take a page off the Ohio University Bobcats and emulate their football uniforms/color combinations immediately. Crisp, outstanding, professional on field presentation.

PS,
Hello Khari Jones
