WEDNESDAY SHOW RECAP: NIK LEWIS & DAN RASHOVICH!

Wednesday was Episode 114 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes were joined by Derek “Duke” Meyers for The Rollout for Flooring Superstore. Rod opened by saying they are taking a sharp turn from the Don Cherry talk and plan to focus on the CFL Playoffs for the rest of the week. He did however say that Jessica Allen’s comments on The Social regarding white, male hockey players were narrow-minded and discriminatory. The boys then got into Day 1 of the Riders’ practice week and discussed Cody Fajardo’s status. They debated the oblique injury and if this game indeed all boils down to Fajardo’s availability?
  • They got into the match-ups, Zach Collaros’s motivation, and what some of the key storylines are for the Blue Bombers heading into Sunday’s West Final.
  • Hall of Famers Nik Lewis and Dan Rashovich joined the bunker for a wide CFL chat. Nik said he’s still an assistant coach with the BC Lions until he’s told otherwise, and explained why he’s so passionate about coaching. They also got into Rod’s long-standing feud with the Stampeders and both he and Nik agreed that it’s all about entertainment.
  • The guys talked about the role of the coordinators in the Winnipeg/Sask game: Stephen McAdoo, Paul Lapolice, Jason Shivers and Richie Hall. They are all some of the best in the league and Nik said their impact in this game will be “huge”.
  • Rashovich mentioned that his father-in-law goes to the same church as Cody Fajardo and the Rider QB told him that he’ll be “good to go” against Winnipeg. Nik joked that he’s surprised Fajardo wasn’t splashed with Holy Water and told to “Heal!”
  • Former Ticats receiver Maurice Mann joined the show via video chat from California and talked about his career and a variety of CFL topics.
  • Columbus Blue Jackets pro scout Rich Sutter joined the show from Saskatoon where he’s scouting Wednesday’s Canada/Russia Super Series games. He talked about the Blue Jackets and the fact they only have 3 regulation wins so far this year. He also offered some funny comments on his brothers Brian and Darryl as they’ll be speaking with Rod at a sports banquet in Paradise Hill, SK on Saturday night.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who should replace Don Cherry – Brian Burke, Tiger Williams, Hayley Wickenheiser or Colby Armstrong? Burke was winning the vote by a nose over Tiger.
  • In honour of show #114 the guys recognized players who’ve worn #14 and the group included Jordan Eberle, Travis Lulay, Brendan Shanahan, Tim McCray and a host of others.
