Wednesday was Episode #95 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes had a special guest in for The Warmup. Saskatoon Blades broadcaster Les Lazaruk joined the bunker as the Blades were on their way through Regina as they trekked from Medicine Hat to Winnipeg. Les – an original Winnipegger – gave a Kirby Dach update (he’s in a tryout window with the Chicago Blackhawks’ AHL team), his thoughts on the Washington Nationals/Montreal Expos in the World Series and an assessment on the Riders and Bombers with three weeks to go.
  • Rod offered an apology to Winnipeg for under-estimating the Manitoba storm on the weekend in his Tuesday rant, and admitted to not having all the facts. He said the apology is sincere but comes with the condition that Winnipeg accepts it. Les said, on behalf of Manitobans, the apology is accepted. Rod further said they want to have a great relationship with Winnipeg, planning future excursions with viewers and listeners to Jets games, the Banjo Bowl, etc. Several Winnipeg viewers chimed in on the Facebook feed thanking Rod for the apology, and agreed that they accept it.
  • NFL/CFL alum Willie Pile joined the show via video chat from Texas to give his thoughts on the weekend losses of his former NFL teams; Kansas City and Dallas. He also offered an assessment on the Jalen Ramsey trade saying all three sides won: L.A., Jacksonville and Ramsey. Willie also talked about the GM change with his former team, the Toronto Argonauts, and said Pinball Clemons can “motivate a tree stump to grow leaves”. It was a fun conversation.
  • Derek “Duke” Meyers and social media influencer/LFL alum Amanda Ruller joined the bunker as well to talk about the Riders/Lions game Friday night at BC Place. They agreed the Lions have nothing to play for – and the Riders do – so it shouldn’t be a huge challenge for the Green & White. Duke said he sees a lot of similarities between Cody Fajardo and Seahawks QB Russell Wilson. Amanda discussed her recent presentation to the UofS School of Business on social media.
  • 3x Grey Cup champion Ricky Foley joined the show via video chat from outside Toronto where he was doing construction work with his Dad. Ricky talked about hosting Riderville parties in Toronto and Vancouver, and said he wished his time in Saskatchewan was longer (2013 and 2014). He also said the GM change with the Argos was a great move, and noted that he’s not a big fan of Jim Popp.
  • Hooplife CEO Andrew Gottselig joined the bunker for The Overtime segment to talk about the mushrooming popularity of basketball in Saskatchewan, and how the CEBL’s Rattlers are doing great things for youth basketball. Hooplife is a year-round training academy for Saskatchewan kids.
  • The Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre daily poll question was: Will the XFL last longer than the Alliance of American Football? At press time, 58% of respondents said yes.
  • In honour of show #95 the guys recognized sports figures who’ve worn number-95 in their career and the group includes Luc Mullinder, Myles Garrett, Matt Duchene, Richard Dent and RICKY FOLEY!
