Thursday was Episode #76 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes opened the show with The Warmup, talking about the morning’s top sports stories including Patrik Laine’s controversial comments about re-signing with the Winnipeg Jets, the retirement of Rob Bagg and NHL preseason results.
  • Riders/Stamps/Ticats alum Marshall Hamilton joined the bunker in the next segment for a wider discussion on all CFL topics and more on Rob Bagg.
  • CFL.ca senior writer Chris O’Leary joined the show from Toronto to talk about Week 15 in the CFL, the love for the CFL in Eastern Canada and the top stories so far this CFL season. He pointed to the struggles of the 2-10 BC Lions as one of the most-unexpected storylines.
  • Viewership spiked in Hour 2 when Rider great Rob Bagg joined the show from Kingston, ON. He mentioned that he recently acquired his realtor’s license and is entering that field in his hometown. He talked about his motivation from being an undrafted player, and why he walked away from the 2007 Riders despite making the team. (He wanted to finish his degree at Queen’s, which made his Mom happy!) “Bagger” also talked about what he was proudest of in his 11-year Hall of Fame career, his closest teammates and how tough it was to make the decision to retire. He also said that he doesn’t regret not playing for an Eastern CFL team, and that if he’d known he was going to spend 11 seasons with the Riders, he would’ve moved to Regina permanently.
  • The CFL on TSN’s Davis Sanchez joined the show to discuss Week 15. He said if he had a vote for 2019 Coach of the Year right now, it would be for Hamilton’s Orlondo Steinauer.
  • Legendary #76’s were recognized by the panel in honour of show #76 and the group includes Joe Fleming, P.K. Subban, Herm Harrison, Shawn Bradley, Lyle Woznezensky and Bill Baker.
