It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday on this commentary, and boy are these random!

#1 – Not sure about you but I can’t walk past a TV or open my phone without getting the latest Tiger Woods news. After his later rollover and DUI arrest last week, the golf icon announced Tuesday night that he’s entering treatment to get his life in order.

People act like this is a tragedy! The sad story would’ve been if he hadn’t entered Recovery. You know, most people don’t.

Here’s hoping this is the greatest comeback of Tiger’s life.

#2 – Speaking of comebacks. Ottawa Senators goalie Linus Ullmark is going to need a big one. He’s had much-publicized Mental Health struggles all season, including missing a game on Saturday, and last night here in Sunrise he allowed the game’s first goal eight seconds in, and was pulled later in the first period once the Panthers built up a 5-0 lead.

Here’s hoping he’s getting the support he needs.

#3 – The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking for a GM. This is a recording. Our analytics show that one half of RP Show podcast downloads come from Toronto and all I can guess is that’s people who are sick of the Leafs and the never-ending talk around them. I know I am.

#4 – The Regina Pats got shellacked 8-2 by Medicine Hat in Game 3 of their first round WHL series Tuesday night. It’s painful to see images and video of all the empty seats in the Brandt Centre, especially when many of us can recall that place being packed so many times for playoff games gone by. Not sure how this turns out.

And #5 – If you look atop the AL East standings you’ll find the Jays and Yankees tied with 4-1 records.

This is going to be fun to watch all year.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

Great stuff 1) I recommend people enjoy what is now the Tiger Woods farewell tour because his bus ticket it is bought and paid for to the after life. He’ll do what he did last time. Go to a nice $100K by the coast spot. Have his pillows fluffed and get told all the things he’ll want to hear for 28 days. This guy would never crawl into the 10th Avenue Row House in Regina. Go down the steps. Get a coffee and keep his mouth shut and listen. Remember kids – he took one for the team, and death… Read more »

Since this Leland guy has been posting he’s spot on with a majority of his posts, can’t argue with what he puts down in his opinions.

The crowd at the Brandt Centre was embarrassing. That place used to be “THE” place in the WHL when the Pats were in the playoffs no matter what the record was. I hope Shawn Semple realizes the damage he has done. The lack of support in this city for our junior hockey team is at an all-time low and he is to blame. Has any of Regina’s vaunted sports media ever asked him about why he keeps ticket prices too high? Is he happy giving out free tix to his employees because rumour is 60 percent of the crowd last… Read more »

$50/ ticket in lower bowl, that includes all the fees. Way to much for JR hockey. Go watch Pat Canadians for $10-$15. Better value

Is Pats attendance the fault of Semple or REAL? A new building downtown owned by Brandt ( Semple) would have a much different vibe to it since REAL wouldn’t have its claws on anything.

Until that happens, the two need to sit down and figure out how to get people inside for games. That was terrible tonight. The place should be cookin in the playoffs, but instead the building is empty. Were their even 3000 there?

I’ll defend the Semples all day long and 3 times on Sunday. First, you better be very grateful they stepped up for naming rights and bought this team. The days of individual owners or mom & pop types are over. This is major business now and they are doing just fine with it. There is never any scandal, and the Hockey Ops are run by Hockey people. With that REAL is the armpit disaster of Regina and that is not on the Semples. You can pin that one on your left-wing progressive City Council. This city spends money on so… Read more »
