Windsor, Ontario’s Paul Reddam has another winning colt. Reddam’s Nyquist won the Kentucky Derby by 1-and-a-quarter lengths to improve to 8-0 in his career. The 3-year-old colt became the eighth unbeaten winner in the race’s 142-year history. Reddam also owned 2012 Derby and Preakness winner I’ll Have Another.

The all-star version of Kyle Lowry has finally emerged. Lowry poured in 33 points to carry Toronto to a 95-91 victory over the Miami Heat, taking a 2-1 lead in their best-of-seven second-round playoff series. Raptors big man Jonas Valanciunas left the game early in the third quarter with a sprained ankle.

The Portland Trail Blazers cut Golden State’s series lead to 2-1 with a big, 120-108 victory over the Warriors in Game 3. Damian Lillard had a playoff-best 40 points for Portland. The defending NBA champion Warriors were still without reigning MVP Steph Curry, who sprained his right knee in Game 4 of the team’s first-round series against Houston.

The San Jose Sharks are a win away from the Western Conference final. Joe Pavelski scored twice and Joe Thornton chipped in with two assists as San Jose downed the Nashville Predators 5-1 to go up 3-2 in their best-of-seven series.

Alex Ovechkin did everything he could to keep the Washington Capitals’ season alive. He scored on the power play and assisted on T-J Oshie’s go-ahead goal to help the Capitals beat the Penguins 3-1 in Game 5. Pittsburgh leads the series 3-2. Earlier, St. Louis took a 3-2 series lead over the Stars with a 4-1, Game 5 win.

Veteran pitcher Bartolo Colon hit his first career home run to power the New York Mets to a 6-3 win over San Diego. Colon’s impressive two-run drive off James Shields into the seats in the left field corner gave the Mets a 4-0 lead. Earlier, the L-A Dodgers downed Toronto 6-2 at Rogers Centre.

Mr. Pedersen,for training camp in Saskatoon, you should book into the Best Western – East Side. It is close to Griffith's Stadium and it is new (just opened last fall). There is a great Continental breakfast every morning.
