ARGOS NAME GUEST COACHES

TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts are excited to announce that former NFL coach Mike Haluchak, former CFL Head Coach and current TSN analyst Paul LaPolice, renowned football coach Dave Levy, and McMaster Marauders Head Coach Stefan Ptaszek will be attending training camp as guest coaches this year.

Mike Haluchak has been involved in coaching at the college and professional levels since 1976.  He served as a linebackers coach in the National Football League for 26 seasons beginning in 1986 for the San Diego Chargers. His most recent position was held with the Oakland Raiders in 2011.

LaPolice spent nearly 13 years coaching in the CFL, beginning with the Argos in 2000 when he served as the receivers coach. He made his head coaching debut in 2010 when he was named the 28th head coach in Winnipeg Blue Bombers history.  After two and a half seasons with the Bombers, one division championship, and a 16-28 overall record, LaPolice moved over to broadcasting and joined the CFL on TSN panel in 2012.

Levy has been part of the football community since 1952, beginning with his playing days at UCLA.  Immediately after graduation in 1954, he spent a season as an assistant coach at his alma mater.  His longest tenure came as an assistant coach at USC, where he spent 16 seasons before heading to the NFL. Levy began with the San Diego Chargers where he spent nine seasons working as an Assistant Coach, Offensive Line Coach and Offensive Coordinator.  From there, he joined the Detroit Lions in 1989 where he held multiple titles including Assistant Head Coach and Running Backs Coach. In 2001, he joined Jim Barker on the coaching staff of the XFL’s only championship team, the Los Angeles Xtreme. Argonauts’ current head coach Scott Milanovich also served there as a quarterback in the same season. In 2003, he was named Running Backs coach for the Calgary Stampeders. He now coaches at Fairfax High School in California.

McMaster Marauders head coach and Burlington, Ontario native Stefan Ptaszek joins the Argonauts for training camp. He led his 2014 CIS program to a winning regular season record. In 2011, he took the Marauders to the school’s first Vanier Cup championship. Ptaszek’s team charged to 21 straight victories between 2011 and 2012, the longest such streak in CIS history and, for his efforts, was named the 2012 CIS Coach of the Year. A former university star as a player, Ptaszek went on to play for the Argos during the 1999 and 2000 seasons as a receiver.
