John Gibson made 28 saves in his dynamic NHL playoff debut, captain Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and an assist, and the Anaheim Ducks evened their second-round playoff series at 2-2 with a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Kings in Game 4 on Saturday night at the Staples Center.

Devante Smith-Pelly also scored in the first period and Corey Perry had two assists for the top-seeded Ducks, who bounced back from two series-opening losses at home with consecutive victories on the road.

Anaheim started its third goalie in three games with the dramatic entrance of Gibson, the 20-year-old American widely considered the best goaltending prospect in hockey.

Jonathan Quick allowed two goals in the first period before getting replaced by rookie Martin Jones, who faced just three shots.

Game 5 is Monday night in Anaheim.

Reilly Smith and Jarome Iginla scored 32 seconds apart to help the Boston Bruins beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals Saturday night.

The Bruins lead the best-of-seven series 3-2, with a chance to eliminate the Canadiens in Montreal on Monday night.

Carl Soderberg and Loui Eriksson also scored, and Tuukka Rask stopped 29 shots for Boston. He extended his shutout streak to 122 minutes, 6 seconds before Brendan Gallagher scored to make it 3-1 on a power play with 5:21 left in the second period.

Carey Price made 26 saves for Montreal. P.K. Subban had a late goal power-play goal.

The Bruins had not scored a power-play goal in the playoffs against the Canadiens in 39 tries over 14 playoff games dating to 2009.

Tony Parker scored 29 points and San Antonio pulled into a commanding 3-0 lead in its Western Conference semifinal against Portland with a 118-103 victory. The Spurs led by as many as 23 points in the first half. The teams meet again on Monday at the Moda Center in Portland.

Miami finally lost a playoff game in NBA playoff action. The Brooklyn Nets toppled the Heat 104-90 in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference semifinal thanks to Andray Blatche, who came off the bench to score a playoff career-high 15 points and 10 rebounds. LeBron James had 28 points for Miami, which leads the series 2-1.

Jose Bautista hit a single to reach base for the 37th straight game, but that was the only highlight for Toronto in a 5-3 loss to the Angels. J.A. Happ pitched just 2-and-a-third innings, allowing four runs and seven hits for the Blue Jays, who dropped their second game in a row to L-A.

Around the league, Canadian Erik Bedard pitched six scoreless innings as Tampa Bay halted its four-game slide with a 7-1 win over Cleveland. And in Cincinnati, New Westminster, B-C’s Justin Morneau hit a two-run home run as Colorado hammered the Reds 11-2. Toronto’s Joey Votto hit his sixth homer of the year for Cincinnati.

It was an historic day in the NFL draft with four Canadians chosen. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif of Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Brent Urban of Mississauga, Ontario, and John Urschel and T-J Jones, both from Winnipeg, were all chosen in the fourth to sixth rounds.

And johnny football went 22nd in the first round after being projected in the top 5 by the 'experts'

The gonads on Bruce Boudreau to start a 3rd stringer Goalie that had never played a NHL playoff game before! He rolled the dice and won, but not many would have done it.
