DICKENSON STAYS WITH STAMPS

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that Dave Dickenson has signed a three-year contract to remain with the Stampeders.

In addition to being the Stamps’ offensive coordinator, a position he has held since 2011, Dickenson adds the title of assistant head coach.

“Dave is a valuable member of the Stampeders organization and I am pleased that we have come to this mutual long-term commitment,” said Hufnagel. “Our offence has been very effective under the guidance of Dave and his staff and I look forward to continued success. We all have great respect for what Dave has accomplished as a player and a coach and I know he will continue to excel in his expanded role.”

Dickenson’s association with the Stampeders started in 1996 when he joined the team as a player. He played a total of six seasons for the Red and White including a 2000 campaign in which he was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player.

After playing his final season with the Stampeders in 2008 and earning a third Grey Cup ring, he became Calgary’s running backs coach. He was named the quarterbacks coach in 2010 and the offensive coordinator in 2011.

“Calgary is my home — my family loves it here and I’m very happy to remain with the Stampeders,” said Dickenson. “I’ve enjoyed working with Huff, the coaching staff and these very talented players and I look forward to going back to work with this group and building on the success of recent seasons.”

In Dickenson’s three years as offensive coordinator, the Stampeders lead the CFL with 1,595 points scored and are the only club to have scored at least 500 points in each of those three seasons. In 2013, Calgary led the league with 549 points scored, boasted the rushing champion and Most Outstanding Player in Jon Cornish, allowed the fewest sacks in the CFL and saw three different quarterbacks earn victories as starters.
Stampeders season tickets are on sale now for the 2014 season. For more information, visit Stampeders.com or call 403-289-0258 to speak with a customer service representative.

To quote the immortal Ricky-Bobby "If you aint first..your last"

With the litany of accomplishments in all those categories, conspicuous by it's absence is showing up in big games. Type-o i'm sure.

Calgary,

I don’t play to win the most regular season games, I just win the real games,

The difference between confidence and arrogance is that confidence won the Grey Cup. I have tons if respect for Huff and his crew, loads if talent there. Chamblin's attitude bordered on arrogance at times but for the most part was a respectful confidence. He knew he was leading a team of champions and proved it. Huff and the crew keep telling everyone they as the best and seldom prove it….

Dickenson is an idiot to stay in Calgary. He could have had a HC position like 3 years ago. He's probably waiting to take the reigns from Hufnagel. It's a bad choice to delay success in the pro sports business. Dickenson will surely regret this decision.
