ESKIMOS FIRE KAVIS

The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club has announced Kavis Reed will not return as head coach in 2014.

"We thank Kavis for his dedication and hard work over the past three seasons and wish him the best in the future," says Eskimos General Manager Ed Hervey.

A former green and gold defensive back (1995-99), Reed ends his coaching career in Edmonton with a 4-14 record this season and a 22-32 record overall since being named the 19th head coach of the Edmonton Eskimos on Dec. 10, 2010.

In his first season, Reed was a Canadian Football League Coach of the Year finalist after the Eskimos finished with an 11-7 record, second in the Western Division and hosted their first home playoff game since 2004. In 2012, the Eskimos finished with a 7-11 record and lost the crossover Eastern Semi-Final to the eventual Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts.

Can’t feel sorry for Kavis, his buddy Ed took care of him giving him an extension that will see him be paid for a couple of seasons.

It’s the Eskimo way

The team clearly really retrogressed over the time Kavis was there or was it the talent brought in by the GM?
LaPolice next coach?

If the organization had any credibility whatsoever they would show Hervey the door as well. Hire LaPolice as both head coach and GM. Hervey is a joke.

My money is on Noel Thorpe to be the next HC of either Ottawa or Edmonton.

He has been a Special teams and defensive coordinator and those units have been regarded as tops in the league.

The only way he isn’t a HC next year is if he wants to stay in Mtl.

I can't see the Edmonton management team being happy with Hervey either.

LaPolice should be the number one guy on their neg list for new HC. Got run out of Winnipeg for no good reason.

Now there's a shock! If Edmonton's BOD have any brains…Hervey will be right out the door behind him!

Giving Thorpe a head coaching job because his units have been good is not a smart way to pick a head coach. I'm not saying he won't be a smashing success but guys like Richie Hall, Greg Marshall, Kavis Reed and countless others have proven they didn't have the LEADERSHIP part of the equation. Does Thorpe? You don't necessarily need to be a strong x's and o's guy to be a heach coach so long as you have co-ordinators who are strong in that department.

Consequences, baby! There had to be consequences! Kavis had the talent there this year to have a much better record than 4-14. Only their Offensive line was lacking in talent.
