WEDNESDAY SHOW RECAP
Wednesday was Episode #23 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:
- The boys made chicken salad out of lemons on Wednesday. Facebook experienced a worldwide glitch with its Facebook Live technology (Instagram video too), however the show went on as planned via RodPedersen.com/ListenLive. In the absence of the Facebook comments feed, listeners gave a workout to the Prairie Mobile Text Line! (306-840-8777)
- BC Lions front office man Travis Lulay joined the show from the Lions practice facility in Surrey, BC. The future Hall of Famer talked about the Lions’ 0-3 start but again joked the team is right on Grey Cup pace (alluding to the team’s 2011 championship after an 0-5 start). He said there is no panic setting in yet with the Lions, but there is urgency to get any problems sorted out.
- Regarding Lions QB Mike Reilly blowing a gasket after the team’s last-minute loss in Calgary in Week 3, Lulay said, “I’ve been there”.
- And regarding the play of his former teammate Cody Fajardo, Lulay said he’s been beaming with pride over Fajardo’s showing the past two weeks. He admitted that even he couldn’t have forecasted the type of debut Fajardo has had, and is cheering him on. The exact quote is in the meme accompanying this post.
- 3x Grey Cup champion Ricky Foley joined the program from his parents’ home in Courtice, ON where he’s currently working on land development projects. He’s also a former teammate of Fajardo’s (in Toronto) and said he’s been blown away by the 27-year old’s play as well.
- Foley discussed a wide array of subjects, but said he’s less concerned about Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors than he is about Mitch Marner and his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.
- Ricky said he just now has gotten past missing the game of football, and he retired three years ago! The panel asked if he has a future role with TSN or the CFL but Foley said he’s too currently too busy with his various projects and is about to become a father for the first time.
- TSN 1260 Edmonton’s Dustin Nielsen also joined the show to discuss NHL free agency and CFL. He said the mood around Edmonton and the Oilers signings is generally negative, but that’s the way it goes in the Alberta capital. He expects new Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins will be a success with the Ducks, presuming he learned from any mistakes he made with the Oilers.
- Regarding the New Gainer, Nielsen said he never really cared for Old Gainer, so he likes the new, sleek design.

- Thursday’s show airs at 10:00 am MT on Facebook Live and will include 3DownNation’s Justin Dunk, former Rider and Stampeder DL Ray Jacobs, and Rod Pedersen Show Director of Scouting Craig Smith!
