Wednesday’s show was Episode #38 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes were joined in the bunker by sportscaster Derek “Duke” Meyers for The Warmup. They mapped out Wednesday’s show with the day’s hottest sports topics. In honour of show #38, they recognized sports figures who’ve worn #38 including Tristan Jackson, Willard Reaves, Curt Schilling and Pavol Demitra.
  • They teed up Week 7 in the CFL and posed the daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in the CFL? The resounding winner was Winnipeg at Hamilton on Friday Night Football. Rod feels it’s a Grey Cup preview.
  • TSN Radio Winnipeg’s Darrin Bauming joined the show via video chat to preview that clash. He said the Bombers have heard the naysayers’ comment of “The Bombers are 5-0 but they haven’t beaten anybody good yet”. Bauming feels the only way to dispel that notion is for Winnipeg to knock off the Ticats this week in The Hammer. The Bombers are favoured by 2-points.
  • Regarding the Riders-Lions game this Saturday in Vancouver, the panel agreed that it’s beyond imminent for the Lions to win this one. Rod thinks BC will win “simply because they have to”. However none of the crew feel there will be firings with the Lions even if they don’t pull out a win in Week 7. Rod said Lions GM Ed Hervey would know exactly what’s wrong with his club and will take whatever measures are necessary to save their season. However he doesn’t expect any firings regardless of Saturday’s result.
  • Saskatchewan’s Lavoie sisters – Lauren and Joanne – joined the bunker to talk about their appearance on CTV’s Amazing Race Canada. Through four episodes, the siblings are still in contention for the grand prize which includes two new vehicles, trips around the world and $250,000 in cash. They said the experience has been “life-changing” and said the difference here is that even when they feel like giving up, they can’t. Otherwise they’d be stuck out in the middle of nowhere.
