TUESDAY SHOW RECAP
Tuesday’s show was Episode #61 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:
- Rod and Dupes were joined in the bunker for The Warmup by Riders/Stamps/Ticats alum Marshall Hamilton. They covered all the day’s hottest sports topics including the Andrew Harris suspension, Josh Donaldson’s return to Rogers Centre and much more.
- Two TSN 1290 Winnipeg personalities – Darrin Bauming and Troy Westwood – joined the show via video chat to talk about the Harris situation and the upcoming back-to-back set between the Riders and Bombers. They agreed that the whole Harris situation is incredibly confusing but they both have a tough time believing Harris knowingly took a banned substance. They also agreed that this situation puts the Bombers in a bind going into 2 games against their top rivals.
- Rod and Marshall agreed that the Riders are positioned incredibly well to takeover first-place from the Bombers but Marshall cautioned that the Riders can’t overlook Winnipeg, since they’re still an incredibly strong team. Particularly on defence.
- In honour of show #61, the tradition continued of recognizing sports figures who’ve worn number-61. The group includes Ed McQuarters, Josh Beckett, Rick Nash, Brett Jones, Cory Stillman, Paul Vajda, Mark Stone and Brian Illerbrun.
- A special treat came in Hour 2 when Riders alum Chris McKenzie and Wes Cates joined the bunker. They tag-teamed on the Harris situation, both questioning Andrew Harris’s claim of innocence, and also talked about the impressive play of the Green & White. Wes also got into his exit from the Riders and said he’s still “not a fan of Corey Chamblin”. C-Mack said he feels really fortunate that he was able to walk away from the game on his own terms. Neither one said they miss the game.
- Sportsnet’s Arash Madani joined the show via video chat from Toronto and discussed 3 main things: 1) The Harris suspension, 2) Josh Donaldson’s return and 3) his best Labour Day Classic memories from his time in the front office of the Blue Bombers.
