Wednesday was Episode #62 of The Rod Pedersen Show. Here are the highlights!

  • Rod and Dupes were joined in the bunker by Derek “Duke” Meyers for The Warmup. They discussed the day’s hottest sports topics including Josh Donaldson’s return to Rogers Centre, more on the Andrew Harris suspension, and more of the latest news in the CFL.
  • CFL.ca’s Matt Cauz joined the show via video chat from Toronto for a CFL-wide discussion. He said he doesn’t believe Andrew Harris’s claim of innocence on the positive steroid test, and discussed his latest column where he said Matt Dunigan’s 700+ yard passing game is the lone CFL record which will likely never be broken.
  • Montreal Alouettes receivers coach Marquay McDaniel – a former Stampeder and Ticat – joined the show via video chat on the club’s bye week. He discussed how he joined the Als staff, and explained the team’s turnaround under rookie head coach Khari Jones. Marquay also revisited his controversial comments after the Stamps’ loss in the 2017 Grey Cup, and said he’s reconciled with the players he singled out in the years since.
  • A real treat was a visit with former Riders, Alouettes and Cowboys receiver Jamel Richardson from his home in Dallas, TX. He recalled his early days with the Riders and said he learned to become a pro by watching his Dallas teammate Terrell Owens. Regarding beating his former Rider teammates in the 2009 and 2010 Grey Cups, he said it was tough competing against his close friends, but that it felt great to beat them! Regarding an update on his life now, J-Rich said he runs a training company, is a claims adjuster, and is working as a mentor with young athletes.
  • In honour of show #62, the group recognized athletes who’ve worn number-62 in their careers. The group includes Vic Stevenson, Reg Whitehouse, Paul Stastny, Carl Hagelin and Jason Kelce.
