MONDAY SHOW RECAP: JASON FRENCH JOINS!
We recapped a great sports weekend on Episode 169 of The Rod Pedersen Show. Here are the highlights!:
- Rod and Dupes opened with The Rollout for Flooring Superstores and covered these topics: 1) Super Bowl LIV, 2) The halftime show, 3) Battle of Alberta, 4) Fighting in hockey, 5) A big week upcoming in Saskatoon, 6) Rush vs Mammoth, and 7) Mens Tankard.
- Riders/Bombers/Renegades alum Mike Abou-Mechrek joined the bunker in Segment 2 to discuss all the latest football topics including the CFL bidding season and players getting cut just ahead of a roster bonus. He had plenty of thoughts! They also discussed the Bombers releasing QB Chris Streveler, Farhan Lalji’s report that Streveler’s signing in Arizona, and what his future could be with the Cardinals.
- BC Lions DB Aaron Grymes joined the show from Idaho to discuss his new contract, the 2020 Lions season, his pro career including stints with the Eagles and Eskimos, and much more.
- Former Rider WR Jason French joined the show from Atlanta to discuss his time with the Riders (2001-2006) and ending his career in Hamilton (2007-2008). He explained why he felt the Riders couldn’t get over the hump during his time, but he’s proud that they set the table for the Decade of Decadence. He also explained his coaching career since leaving the CFL, and his current personal training business.
- 3DownNation’s Justin Dunk joined the show from Southern Ontario to discuss the latest on bidding season, what went into the Riders extending Cam Judge, and his thoughts on players being cut ahead of roster bonuses.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is the greatest Super Bowl halftime ever: Michael Jackson, Timberlake/Janet, Lady Gaga or JLo/Shakira? The results are neck-and-neck.
- Monday’s show is available for viewing on our Facebook page or you can listen to the podcast by clicking on the PODCAST tab at the top of this page.
- See you at 10 am CT Tuesday for a hockey show featuring Matthew Barnaby and Chris Dingman! We’ll be at Facebook Live and RodPedersen.com/ListenLive.
Best halftime Super Bowl shows, Lady Ga Ga, Prince!
There you are, congratulations Team Matt Dunstone.
Battle of Alberta was back. Fun game. When the trade for Lucic was made, it wasn’t for his goal scoring. Where was he “sending a message” after the game got out of hand? Flames thoroughly beaten in all aspects of the game. Somebody has to wake up Milan.
Perhaps there’s one more reason the Riders couldn’t get over the hump with Jason. I believe Vanstone put it best, “Another drive-killing clank off the chest of Jason French”. If you thought Getzlaf was the worst for dropsies then you never saw French play.
