MONDAY SHOW RECAP: JEFFERSON, ROOSEVELT JOIN!
Monday’s Episode #183 of The Rod Pedersen Show was a real fun show! Here are the highlights:
- Rod was back from Mexico and was joined by Dupes and Derek “Duke” Meyers for The Rollout for Flooring Superstores. They covered these show topics: 1) What did Rod miss over the past week?, 2) Randy’s Road Trip, 3) XFL Week 4, 4) Huskies win it all, 5) What’s up with the Rush at SaskTel Centre?, 6) Our NHL teams, 7) Tim Horton’s Brier, and 8) Should CFL salaries be made public?
- On that last point, the boys went deep offering their opinions why or why not? At Randy’s Road Trip stop in Saskatchewan on Saturday, Randy Ambrosie, Rider President Craig Reynolds and GM Jeremy O’Day all said they’re against it. Rod pointed out several reasons why they would feel that way, but feels the salaries SHOULD be made public, and the reasons why.
- That spawned the daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question: Should CFL salaries be made public? 74% of respondents said yes.
- Winnipeg Blue Bombers star Willie Jefferson joined the show from Beaumont, TX and took us deep into his free agency tour with lavish stops in Toronto and Hamilton. Willie said, “If anyone thinks meeting Drake would convince me to sign, they’re wrong. That’s not me”. He said he left his wife and daughter to choose where he’d sign, and they picked Winnipeg. Regarding CFL salaries being made public, Willie said he’d vote no. “I don’t want nobody knowing how much I make!” he laughed.
- New York Guardians OL Derek Dennis joined the show from New York to talk about his XFL debut, and the Guardians’ home win on Saturday. The Bonecrusher said the attendance was low (12,000+) because the weather in New York is so cold but said that market wants a winner and they’ll turn out if there’s a good product on the field. He also discussed the differences between the CFL and American rules football as it pertains to linemen (the yard off the ball). Derek said he’ll have 2,000 friends and family at their next game. Furthermore, Dennis said he has no problem with CFL salaries being made public because they generally hit the news anyway.
- Montreal Alouettes receiver Naaman Roosevelt joined the show next from Buffalo and talked about his time with Saskatchewan (2015-2019) and how excited he is to be in Montreal. He said he’s grateful for his time with the Riders, and harbours no hard feelings. He knows how the game goes. As far as Drake goes, being a rapper himself, Naaman said he’d sign immediately with a team if they offered him a chance to meet Drake!
- The guys debated Marc Trestman’s future in Tampa Bay with the XFL’s Vipers, and the wonderful coaching career he’s had. They agreed it’s an interesting situation to watch, and they’re happy Vipers OC Jaime Elizondo is having much success.
- The guys welcomed new show sponsor Suds Car Wash, who will be presenting The Clean Up portion of the show daily.
